  • Very well done, IMO. Only played it through my phone's speakers, but very punchy. Definitely sounded "mastered". Enjoyed the filtering of the synths, the little piano part in the background, and the way you dropped almost everything out around 1:40 before bringing it all back in toward the end. Nice job!

  • @Joel75 Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!

Pretty good stuff mate. In some ways this could make a decent backdrop for an electronic pop track, but it's better as the cheery instrumental it is. The mix is VERY well done, and indeed I'm listening to this on more expensive consumer headphones (which my ears are used to).

If I were to have any small critique, it'd be that the drum samples used are just the least bit dated (kinda like when Skrillex was good before turning into a Purple Lambourgini joke (and, indeed, the word "joke" does reference where the track comes from)), but in the grand scheme of things - who gives a shit? This is better than Skrillex. The drums ARE punchy to the standards I prefer in more in-your-face electronic tracks.

Also, one thing I absolutely appreciate are the panning techniques you used to give the track a sense of space. Electronic music often uses Haas wideners to achieve a sense of space but rarely do producers actually make use of "the sound stage" when mixing. I'm a sucker for Haas widening on certain elements (notably the 909 Hi Hat if I use that in a house track, some basses (but not subs), and lead sounds).

I also loved the fact this track is a non-traditional type of track, and is fresh and different. It certainly is a "go getter" in the literal sense. Mate, keep doing fresh and different.

  • @jwmmakerofmusic Thanks for the comments & feedback! I've been really trying to hone my mixing skills lately, so it's great to get some validation that I'm heading in the right direction!

  • Big sounds, well mixed @theartwebreathe ! Enjoyed it!

  • @theartwebreathe That track sounds excellent. This is what excites me about iOS music production: if someone said this was recorded on ProTools and mastered with iZotope Ozone I would have no cause to doubt them. Very cool...
