  • Top one. Is that a nod to Jakob at the end?

Thanks. I love that man but no nods intended.

    Thank you

  • I really like this, when it started it sounded like eels, then went off to somewhere near Beck, then went somewhere else.

    Nicely done dude !

  • Very cool!

Beck's high up in my book, can't argue with eels either. Thanks!

Yeah. Good. Really liked the last minute and a half. It was like the first part was the early rounds of a fight, little bit of feeling out, but then, bam, fuck this, off to the races. So much so that I would even consider getting rid of the text on screen at the end. Don't need it. Too busy telling you what's what. And the visuals then are also in high gear. What are you editing (vid) in? Hafta say you've inspired me some. Realized the other day I gave up making any kind of film because the SOTMC doesn't want to deal with youtube, which is entirely fair enough, but not a good enough reason to stop making things...

you did the damn thing, i could see it getting good to ya :)

  • Agree with Senor GY that this one goes over the top (in a good way) in the last section. Couple questions:

    Playing drums yourself these days?

What are you using for the scratching style "ready" section in the middle? Is that an effect controlled by a hardware controller?

yes very good sampling/looping, and all this live! Really great work.

Thanks. Yeah, I did go a bit nuts with the titles. I've tried using LumaFusion but it was too much of a pain to sync all the files (3 video and 1 audio) so I ended up using Final Cut Pro. It has more features that most will need and I generally find myself at home with it. I love the new multicam feature that syncs it all up for you and lets you cut in the multiangle window. I'm running it on my old (2009) MacBook Pro with 4Gb ram and SSD drive and just about scrape through multicam which seems rather heavy resource wise. So consider this before making any major purchase decisions.

I sometimes wish one could redownload newer drafts of videos to YouTube but I haven't found that option. Is that possible? I often end up doing everything in a day following the burst of creativity which inevitably leads to some dodgy bits.

Not quite certain what you mean by this. I do know that most video work I've done has been in a flurry (and usually late at night) and if there was ever something that would benefit from a more sober polishing a month later (after getting them out again from the digital drawer) it would be these items. But I never do. Until today (as Mrs. Goodyear is teaching me to say after I make any 'it's always been shit' comments.... :))

EDIT: Presume you mean replace in place that which has been updated. And I don't think you can either, which IS a bit shit. Would love to be corrected...

  • Vimeo can, if you use the pro tier. It really is one of the signficant blockages to using youtube professionally that you can't change a video except by deleting it, losing the URL, and making an entirely new separate disconnected one with a new URL. With Vimeo you can change the video with an entirely separate new one which will retain the original link.

    Good to know....

It is all live alright but I had to cut out a large chunk from the middle in the final edit.

Yes, I did some drumming on this one but ended up chopping and copying most of it as it was way too wonky to use. I also compressed and gated the shit out of it as it was recorded with a handheld recorder and was complimentary to the beat I played in Samplr anyway.

As for that scratchy effect I'm gonna keep it as a trade secret. Let me just tell you that it is one of the presets in turnado ;)

  • Ah, fantastic to see you strutting your stuff again oh super talented one. Had me transfixed and grooving along to your delicious tune. Miss your music down at SOTMC and wasn't aware of the vid ban there because I'd love to try one. That charisma still flows from your pores I see, and how you do all this live, blows my head to shreds. The last section winds up, and even further up leaving a taste for more please sir. Gives me the need to set my precious, battered Ayotte kit up again and give it a good seeing to. Brilliant stuff. :)

For the record, I don't believe The SOTMC Commissariat banned videos at all, but as Soundcloud don't support the format they became a bit moot (in that arena anyway). I suppose one could do two versions, but, you know, lazy bastard etc.

Yes, sorry. And to the gaffer. That word banned is circling around at the moment as I tot up the points on the old license after another 3 collected in Port Talbot last Sunday morning. Writing the cheque in blood. Bastards. My fault. Got caught. :)

Yeah, I know. Could've been somewhere more romantic. I dunno, Scunthorpe maybe?
