Awkward MIDI mapping │Troublemaker Tutorial - haQ attaQ 200
Controlling knobs with MIDI pads? Sounds rather awkward yes, but is it really? Awkward that is. In this episode I am demonstrating how I am using a Pad controller (iRig PADS) to control knobs inside Troublemaker by Bram Bos. This This is exactly how I set it up for the Having a Rave live performance video that I published not to long ago.

Thank for the vid @jakoB very nice
My pleasure! =D
I always enjoy your tutorials and spirit!
From Troublemaker thread: 'all mutation features are controllable via MIDI CC (#40-#43).'
@Looping_Loddar Aw thank you so much! =D
Thanks for the info! =D
Nice vid, Jakob! It inspired me to put some useful CC messages on the pads of my LPD8 rather than using them for note triggering.
Thanks Bram! I love working in this manner. The only time I really feel like I need knobs are when I want to control cutoff and resonance. And in those cases I'd rather use faders instead of knobs.
I did a similar mapping with the waveforms on my NanoKontrol2, so I have the all wave forms available through the transport and scene select buttons.
I have the main rotaries on TM mapped to the faders on the NanoKontrol......after watching this I am now going to map all the Mute/Solo/Record buttons for each fader to preset values like you have done, perhaps 25%/50%/75% for quick switching and then I'll still have the fader for fine/free control
Cheers for the tip Jakob![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
My pleasure! I kind of prefer working with a pad controller more and more nowadays.
It was interesting to see a pad controller being used for parameter modulation. Thanks for demonstrating, Jacob!
One trick I've found with MIDI mapping troublemaker's waveforms is that if you set a rotary dial to 1-10 (I noticed that both 0 and 10+ give a sawtooth wave) then on the far left you've got a square wave and on the far right a sawtooth. I like this configuration because a less precise twist of the dial either way will flick between the two 'classic' waveforms, while fine turning in the middle will give you access to the special ones.
