Roland TR-09 and iPad , with USB ? Audio +/or Midi ?

edited January 2017 in General App Discussion

Any clue how this little beast will react thru USB connected to the iPad ???
Will only midi pass from TR to IOS ? Or audio ? If so, does it become a soundcard for the iPad ???

Thanks :)

  • Just tried with my TB-03: "This accessory uses too much power"

Haven't tried on battery power yet. B)

    Hmm..Or with a powered usb hub... :)
Seems the TR-09 has 4 separate audio out, thru usb.
I guess it would need the driver...So not the 4 out, but if it could replace a simple stereo soundcard with an iPad...What a blast...

Yeah it would be interesting to know if these are class compliant as all of the boutique range has audio over USB..although I'm not overly keen on it being USB Micro.....it always seem a bit fragile to me.

  • Hmm...Seems the boutique devices are not class compliant at all... :(

It's a shame, they may have missed a real trick here

  • I have a tb-3 haven't connected it yet but gonna try. Knobs feel good and it has an integrated audio card (96khz tho). Anybody try this, as audio or controller?

It requires a driver for the mac so I guess the Airas aren't class compliant either. (I only ever tried mine using oldfashioned midi cables).

  • I think the A-01 is the only boutique that is class compliant, but that has Bluetooth so you don't need a cable for MIDI
