iOS 10.2.1 update
is out.
Nothing but unspecified bug fixes and security improvements mentioned.
Hopefully it won't break anything...

I don't think I'm gonna do any more updates - providing Apple don't ambush me with that second nag that comes up after you get rid of the first one that results in you accidentally installing. It's ruined the battery life on my Air 2 overnight, and my 5S can no longer handle WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger at the same time.
All of which is to say, maybe let others test it first![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I have tried every version of iOS 10.2.1 (betas 1-4), everything it's good, specially if you are already on iOS 10.2. Won't notice anything different. Better wait for more opinions though, for each "this update is awesome" there is always a "this update broke my device and set it on fire"
Hate the nag screens, especially the tricky Von trickster that looks like screen unlock but is actually a haha update tonight deceit.
Yep. The battery lasts half as long if that . Does seem a bit snappier though.
I like how when you have automatic app updates turned OFF, they get automatically updated when you update iOS. Awesome feature, Apple!![:/ :/](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/confused.png)
I cannot help but think that Apple throw all those updates as a jailbreak deterrent to make iDevices unjaibreakable. IOS seems to get updated much more that macOS.
You might be on to something, but there are orders or magnitude more iOS devices than macOS devices.
Might be a 10.2 jailbreak soon. Best not update if you wanna jail break .
But jailbreaking isn't everybodys cup of tea, so do what you feel is right for you..
No, Moment I receive an update for my iOS devices, moment I receive an update for my MacBook, always, even the beta versions drop at the same time, and if I had an Apple TV or an Apple Watch I would be receiving updates for those as well. No doubt iOS updates patch the security flaws that allow jailbreaking, obviously, but I don't think there's a conspiracy here.
I think iOS devices receive the major yearly update first but as soon as the update arrives for the Mac both receive updates equally. (Unless there's a major bug or something that need fixing for an specific platform)
What, even worse than 10.2?![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Battery life on my 6 looks like its better
On my 5S as well, but there's not really a way to prove it's actually the case. Something tells me a lot of random symptoms are being attributed to these iOS updates that are entirely caused by something else. The fear of updates runs deep in iOS land![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
iOS and macOS follow pretty much the same release cycle.
Does it fix the rotation bug on the Air 2? (He asks, expecting the inevitable disappointing reply that it hasn't)
Usually overnight my 6 would discharge 20-30%. Last night with all else equal other than the update it discharged about 8%.
I fear no update!![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Sadly no. At least not for me.
They really are a bunch of useless gits. So now I'm going to be nagged repeatedly for an update that doesn't fix the main issue I'm having, after being nagged into updating previously and having the issue pushed onto me in the first place.
Seriously reconsidering my continuing investment in iOS/OSX products.
what is the rotation bug?I have an air 2 as well but rotation works fine it seems.Though i'm still on 9.3.5
Came in with 10x. Basically the screen stops rotating when you turn the iPad, which means web pages stuck in portrait or landscape, apps not resizing when rotated.
It's a real pain in the ass, and seems to be completely random. You can sometimes clear it by clicking the power button, but other times you need a full reboot.
They're just ignoring the issue.
Clicking the power button with it upside down fixes it for me 100% of the time. Annoying, but could be worse.
That's failed for me several times now.
Update blocks iTools and ifunbox docs access.
Something silly, but now Since I've updated, Alchemy doesn't get the warning sign about slowing your iPad down, like the previous version.
Wait - what? Not file shared items though - right?
I can still get to the file shared stuff through iFunbox (Windows version)....I did have to refresh the list of apps first though..it was blank to start with
What ver ifunbox are you using? Are you able to import files?
v4.0 (x64)
And yes I can move files both ways
I can also confirm ifunbox works (windows).
@chimp_spanner So, are you saying this new update cut your battery life in half?! i'm ok with updating to 10.2 just a few days ago, but 10.2.1 sounds like a bad idea right now.
Am I correct?
I get huge anxiety every time these updates come in. My Air 2 was on iOS 8 when I got, went to 8.4 for a long time, finally went to iOS 9 with 9.3.5 and after seeing lots of apps I like were going to iOS 10 I jumped. That irritating rotation bug was the most annoying difference, luckily battery life seemed the same. I went to iOS 10.2 in hopes of the rotation bug being solved, and it hopefully seems to have worked.
I am really feeling if it ain't broke don't fix it so I am not going past iOS 10.2 unless absolutely necessary. If I'm not mistaken updates that are #.#.1 are very minor no? I just would hate for battery life to shit the bed when everything is finally running okay.
