Troublemaker question about the AU
Can anyone answer a question about using Troublemaker as an AU. I can't find the answer from the app description. When used as an AU does it only operate as a sound module or can you use its internal sequencer sync'd to the host? Thanks
Comments
When in AU mode the internal sequencer is not available. But it would be awesome <~~ [understatement] if this were to be added in the future.
You can send(from your saved projects) to your DAW(it's a Midi file..... Straight to Cubasis, for example, if your using that?). Then load up TroubleMaker, & add the Midi file into the track of TroubleMaker. Copy & Paste the amount of times you want to have in your project, then record the automation as your playing after. I think?
Thanks, that's a real shame. Maybe @brambos can add this in the future, maybe a switch to flip between synth and sequencer.
The saved project in TroubleMaker to Cubasis that is. Or you can send your TroubleMaker projects to AudioShare, then from AudioShare to Cubasis, etc.
I tried it, and there was simply no way it could be designed in the narrow letterbox format and offer an acceptable user experience. No sliding, paging, panning or zooming could do the trick, there's simply not enough space. The sequencer deserves proper pride of place (actually I feel it is almost too cramped already on the full screen of the iPad), so I took it out of the plugin.
It's a pity, but I'm just working within the constraints of the format and the user experience of the sequencer is one thing I don't want to compromise on.
I see. Could it not be a simple button that flips the whole UI between sound module and sequencer? It looks like they share the same amount of space so could work.
I had thought so too but it's an illusion. The teal area makes them seem equal in size but the sequencer is actually much larger
And on phones the UI letterbox is even narrower than on iPad. Once AU lets us go fullscreen I can go all out :-)
Thanks, was worth an ask!
Hi. Got a question about using TroubleMaker as an AU in GarageBand. Is there any way to TM record knob modulation? Even if it has to just be recording the audio to a new track that would be livable.
I'm wondering if there is any way to capture the lovely modulation.
To my knowledge there is still no host out there that can record AU parameter automation from the plugin GUI. Troublemaker is ready for it, but the hosts are lagging behind here.
Closest is Cubasis where you can draw CC curves and they have said they are looking into AU automation.
Thanks. I seem to remember being able to do midi Ccs and point them at the iSem AU in MultiTrack Studio actually.
But nothing on the iPhone. That's a shame.
Maybe BM3 when it comes out...
Absolutely, I'm not big on the acid sound so I use it for more 'reserved' bass sounds...it is the sequencer and its ease of use that makes this for me, if this were compromised to make it fit in AU it just wouldn't be the same.
