Galileo midi problem using midiflow

I'm having issues using midiflow with Galileo. Basically what I'm trying to do is have midiflow be able to split my keyboard so that I have Galileo running on part of it and another app on the other. In midiflow I have set the correct input keyboard and have set the channel out to 3 and the destination to Galileo. Once in Galileo I set the upper manual in to 3 and leave the out as off. Every other app I'm using has had the midi out channel changed from 1 to something else and I do the same exact process in midiflow and I have no problems. Is there something I'm missing? I'm so close to have my rig ready for my band so it's pretty frustrating.

I should also mention that when I leave Galileo midi out channels to their defaults (upper 1, lower 2, pedal 3), my keyboard plays the upper manual but I have no ability to make a split. My keyboard is running out as midi channel 1 so I believe that's why. Midiflow is supposed to convert my input keyboard to whatever channel out I choose and then send that information to the app. Please give me the solution so I can rock!

Thanks

  • Just a guess, but are you setting up the keyboard split in Galileo as well? If not, I think it only plays the upper manual. You can use midi learn on your external keyboard to set the keyboard split point - from there, if you haven't already, I think pg. 19ish in the manual goes over the note ranges of the manuals and pedal. BG Audio needs to be on as well, and output channels set in Galileo to match input Channel of your keyboard - which is hopefully not 1, which might cause loop etc - if that's only option then I'd guess you'd have to map the keyboard split in Galileo to notes that don't overlap w/ the keyboard output notes. Good luck!

  • I'm not really worried about using the split feature right now. I'd be happy to just use the upper manual. My problem is I can't get the upper manual to recognize midi coming in on any other channel than number 1.

Looks like Galileo has something odd going on with its input ports. I don't even see Midiflow ports I made as an input option.

If i close midiflow and turn all input ports off within Galileo, MIDI stops working. If I have Midiflow in the background, even without explicitly pointing it at Galileo, and all input ports within Galileo off, MIDI still works. Port promiscuity is bad for humanity.

    anyway, try this:

    In Galileo:

    1. set the upper to whatever MIDI channel you want.
    2. set lower and pedal to off
    3. go to inputs and turn everything off

    Then in MIDIFlow:

    1. I made one lane that restricts notes from C4 to C8 and pointed it at Galileo.
    2. Made another lane that restricts notes from C0-B3 and pointed it at sunrizer.
    3. Works!

I have all ports deselected in sunrizer and it's set to omni.

Depending on how complicated your set up is, this might not work in real life. As long as MIDI flow is open, Galileo is going to respond on whichever midi channel you set it to. Even if you don't point MIDIFlow at Galileo explicitly. You could probably use a CC to shut it up though.

@dwarman might know a way around this and @Sebastian and co are currently working hard to make this sort of problem go away.

Try setting the keyboard in channel 4. Then make the splits and channel remapping in Midiflow . It should work.
I strangely had to reinstall Galileo since it didn't launch inside AB.

Oh man. This worked! Thank you so much. Now I can finally try out the new setup with my band.
