Spectral Eye 2.0 -- out now, still free
Finally got around to updating this -- it's a frequency analyzer. It does an FFT of incoming sound (from the microphone/audio interface), and then displays this in a spiral, so that frequencies that are octaves apart are lined up. The app has a very simple synthesizer, so you can play it theremin-style, and we've added MIDI.
The app has been free from the start, and will stay that way. It was a side project while we were working on MIDImorphosis; kind of a fun little toy. I like running Nave in the background, and using the spiral interface to play notes and watch the lights dance!

I've had this for years. It is quite the fun little app! I have Spectral eye pro as well, what is the difference between the two apps? I haven't used either for a while.
I have the same question. Bought the Spectral Eye Pro many years ago, have gotten my moneys worth out of it for sure (I think it was $1?). Anyway also curious what the difference is now.
The "pro" version wound up making a few hundred bucks over a couple of years -- the main difference was MIDI, and for that much cash, it's just not worth it to have to maintain two versions (and really, I wasn't maintaining either -- the AB part broke when IAA came on the scene, and I hadn't updated it in pretty much forever). The free version now has MIDI built in.
The current version doesn't have AB or IAA, but I'll probably add that in -- I'm sort of hanging back a little to see what happens on the next version of Audiobus. It might make sense to wrap the app up as an AU3 effect, so that you could host it on different DAW busses to see what's going on. AU3 would take a bit of hacking effort, and while it's a bit of a fun toy, it's not clear to me that the potential revenue from the app would make it worthwhile, so it'll probably just be vanilla AB/IAA.
I've probably got too many little projects going on, and Spectral Eye is one of them. Right now, I'm jumping back onto the money makers. An Infinite Looper update should be out in a couple of days, and an Apollo update will pop up in a week or so. And there's the super-cool secret stuff that I'm working on... really got to get that finished!
