Video from Doug..Tines - Electric Piano by KLEVGR Demo for the iPad

I like the KLEVGR apps, really easy to use use GUI and always good quality. So here is a demo for Tines their very nice electric piano app.

  • I was mildly interested after Jakob's video but this one sent me over the edge. Love that fat rich warm sound!

Maybe i have been spoiled by electric 88 on desktop, but i was really disappointed on the sound of this app, it sound pretty damn horrible to my ears :/ Same with their app pads. I could get some decent sounds with them, but in general, they just sound bad to me. Jussi is fun for lulz and you can make some pretty funny sounds with it, like make it sound like little girls being slaughtered :D . But the throat parameter is basically just "make it sound bad" if you add more than just a tiny bit of it(some other parameter would had made it a lot better).

I do think their fx apps are great tho.

Sounds good from these videos and I love electric piano sounds.

Jussi (while cool) is very processor intensive though and Thumbjam (which is a staple of every setup I run..) already has some exceptional electric pianos. Moreso, I've heard about problems with aliasing issues in this app.

How's processor use? I noticed a lot of crackling in Jacobs Tines vid.
Any further comments on aliasing issues (previous guy who mentioned it was 'raging' so couldn't be taken too seriously).

I hope that is a bad translation. The idea doesn't even inhabit the same universe as funny.

Yes it has strong aliasing, the main reason what makes it sound much worse than lets say electric 88. Im pretty sure that jacob was using his old ipad mini when doing his tines video, which is quite low powered, and he was recording the mic input at the same time. Thats what was causing the crackling.

I do want to say that low notes sound really nice and ill be definitely use it as a bass at some point.

I also use an iPad mini2 in my setup and it can handle quite a lot of 'auxiliary' functionality. I usually run Audiobus Remote, AUM, 2 instances of Viking Synth, Ruismaker, RF-1 and about 5-6 node effects and processors on AUM channels (256 buffer). Never get any crackling so I don't think just two apps should cause so much processor trouble on this device.

There's also similar crackling in his the Jussi video, so I'm guessing that these apps are just processor intensive. Jussi adds up to 30-40% to the processing load of my mini2 (in AUM), which is pretty high!

  • So, I bought it and it sounds great to my ears, especially with that rich, deep Rhodes sound in the lower registers. I haven't gotten any crackling/aliasing so far on my Air 2, but I haven't gotten a lot of other apps going with it yet. It is a processor hog, no doubt.

I think we may be neigbours.

I am prone to the occasional dark outburst.

Mostly fine when I'm on the medication though.

Funny, or strange, but since I stopped the (self) medication I have very few dark outbursts. I miss them.

I think its a good idea to keep the shadow where you can see it and "get to know the enemy", so that medication isnt needed to keep it in check ;)
