M-Audio Keystation 49i, compatible with iPad?

Guys, hello,

Someone I know is selling one of these: end hand for cheap:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keyboards-midi/m-audio-keystudio-49i-usb-midi-controller#productDetail

I already own an M-Audio keyboard but this 49i has a built in audio interface.

------. Does anyone know own if it's compatible with iOS? (It has USB out but there's no mention of it on the product page).

MY GOAL:
It has mic input. I want to use the mic input in combo with the keys to operate the VoxSyn voice mod app. (USB out to the CameraConnectionKit into iPad/VoxSyn)

A quick Google showed v.little so I was chancing someone has/had one.

Don't own one, but if it is class compliant with Mac, it will work with the ios, through the cck. I'm willing to bet it needs external power to work. One possible hangup to look out for is if it still tries to suck power from the USB, making the ipad say "this accessory takes too much power". My original m-audio axiom 49 does that, even plugged in with a wallwart, making it useless for ios.

PS that is very cool it has a built in audio interface. I wish they made more of those, since the "mobile" musician is often stuck hauling around a bunch of peripherals, power adapters, cables, special adapters, etc. I see keyboard players at shows, that are playing soft synths off a laptop, having to hook up all this fragile stuff onstage, that has to go on the floor...

There is a comprehensive list online of midi controllers that work on iOS as well as if they require USB or external ect. .I think I was searching for info on my m-audio Oxygyn 49 last December when I stumbled on it. I can look later but have to run now. Try searching iOS compatible midi controllers.

Yes, 100% agree with this. How many of these controllers have the audio interface integrated? (The only thing I wish this one had was MIDI in, but I suppose the idea is to connect other MIDI controllers to the USB hub.)

  • I have an M-Audio 49e which has USB midi out and it works with the CCK on my iPad Air 2

  • Yep, I also have the 49e currently and also use it with iPad.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I find the 'mega page' with uber midi-ios-compatible list. Sure enough Keystation is on the list.

I'm not worried about needing external power, that's all I'm used to anyways.

I think I'll also drop a msg on my VoxSyn thread, see if the developer thinks mic-in to the back of this keyboard would work to control VoxSyn by voice. -i would hope so but surely pays to check before I buy.
