Ableton Live 2 channel linked automation
Hi, I've got 2 audio tracks recorded from an iOS synth, 1 'dry run' and 1 with fx. I want to seamlessly mix between the 2 in ableton arrangement view. In Live is there any way to link the automation, so when I increase the volume of one track (eg wet) it reduces the other (dry)? I guess it would be a bit like a side chain on an automation lane. Thanks.

A you trying to map to an external controller?
@nrgb no, just trying to mix between track A1 and A2 so when track A1 is at 70% volume A2 is at 30%, but not have to do it all manually
I think it might be done via grouped tracks, but having been searching for an answer all wekend!
It is the worst when you get stuck in a loop.
Happens to me on one or two certain things lately.
Just raise the volume of one and lower another(and record the automation). If you have some midi controller, you can get more hands on feeling doing it, but you can just draw the fades.
I dont think its possible to get one track automatically lower its volume when you raise another. However there might be some max device for that.
Or if you are trying to crossfade, perhaps this trick could do it:![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/anwS8FS3s3g/0.jpg)
There's a track crossfader in Session View, would that work?
With xfader you could assign one to A group and other to B group and make what @Tarekith points you.
ITOH there are some useful mfl tools like isotonik studios which could do some automation magic too.

I'm fairly new to AL so I could be thinking about this in the wrong way. I thought I could 'connect' the 2 related channels of audio in order to automate their levels 'in tandem' but maybe I need to do a midi controller rough mix and then clean up the envelopes manually. Any more advice greatly appreciated!
Do you have a midi controller you can use? If so, then yes, you can assign the same control on the controller to both track volume handles in Live. Then you can edit the midi mapping in live to reverse the values of one of the volume faders. This will let you mix between the two the way you want.
Great idea, thank you!
