I recently bought a bunch of the Beathawk IAPs so I could use them within Garageband as AUs. They work great when I'm in the session but I've had it happen 3 times now where I come back to a session later and none of the settings or sounds of Beathawk have saved. So every time I have to open up the AU and reselect the instrument and it's a pain in the rear. Is there something else I need to be doing to save it? Is this specific to Garageband or do other DAWs have this issue as well?
BeatHawk specific issue. I’ve experienced it on GarageBand and Cubasis
I was having the same issue in BM3 a lot at one point, which is why I stopped buying BeatHawk expansion, now it seems like song I used with BH as an AU seem to load ok. I havent tried BH as an AU in Gargaeband that I remember but Ill give it another day in court

Things have changed since I wrote this and Audiobus 3 supports AU apps now and there are some AU apps and AU hosts that support full screen. AU MIDI is a thing though there are a limited number of AU hosts that support it (though growing). Another significant issue is how AU apps deal with presets in terms of being able to use the same preset in another AU host app. Finally, not all AU apps or AU host apps provide MIDI access to AU app parameters.
It was great to read this thread from two years back. I asked the same question a month ago and got good answers, but this puts the whole thing in perspective. @michael posted to the thread "new category" that he might turn his attention to some iteration of a "beginners" category after he finishes the latest version of AB. I hope that threads like these and new ones can be made available for those newcomers, like myself, to read when we might not even know what questions to ask.
The main thing for me was having more than one instance and changes being saved within the host (in my case AUM and recording/file management in audioshare) I've had a ipad for only a week so I have many questions.
