What would make iOS mobile production (nearly) complete?
Maybe there are already tons of threads about this, so then i apologize.
But i ask me what people think is still missing for your creative workflow on iOS in terms of sound design, creating music.
What i really miss is some great physical modeling stuff like Pianoteq 5, Chromaphone 2, Sculpture etc.
I think these could run on the latest iOS devices and don´t need much space and/or RAM and would cover a lot of ground missing yet in iOS.
A great midi FX arp/chorder like Cthulhu. There are some but nothing like Cthulhu yet.
Finally i hope some iOS DAW´s get midi FX options as AUv3 (if possible?).
Maybe there are already similar options i missed (iPhone version appreciated).
Otherwise, a nice weekend and happy music making!

Pitch correction for commercial/pop records is a big hole right now. For example the tone on Kehlani's new album, I don't think could be accomplished on iOS right now
Video synthesis - generating tone, colour, shape, area, line, with modulatable orientation, compositing, transformation, etc. All in response to midi and timing and or audio signal analysis. All with touch interaction.
For me it's less about needing new tools and more about making it easier to shuttle audio files from one app to another, without having to rely on third party apps. Audioshare, Dropbox, and iCloud are all options in different apps, but much slower than just being able to organize my files in folders and access them directly.
A better interface for Thesys.
sample import in the Playground app
samplr update
Impc pro stability
midi in and out on all apps
ikaossilator update that includes midi in/out
randomizer on Moog model 15, and every other app for that matter.
Fixing the rotation bug on Air 2's. I can't reboot the bloody iPad in the middle of a gig.
Midi out for Gadget (and a few other things)
I agree with this. File management is a big pain in the ass on iOS relative to macOS/Windows. Technology moves so quickly and there are so many players that operational and formatting standards become few and far between.
ISO for iOS! Meaning something like the International Organization for Standardization. Think the gear icon which virtually all devs observe but extended to all/most icons and for that matter basic work flow. Why should it be necessary to constantly be learning a new "language" when moving from Auria to Cubase to Modstep etc etc insert your own examples. I think it happened once when companies got together to come up with MIDI. There needs to be a developer summit to hash out some basic procedures so that we users can happily and actually use the iOS music embarrassment of riches to their potential.
+1
Also, fix the darn Air2 orientation bug !
+1 (with Link integration and multiple midi channels on the fly)
And also Modstep, midi note editing more like Gadget, with undo/redo.
For me, the tools all work well enough, it's just getting off my duff and actually finishing a record
Rustiest tool in the shed. I hear that.
Yes!
A standard whereby when i load a synth into Studiomux via Ableton it recalls all the settings and automation as if it were an actual vst in Ableton
Time.
And talent
I want this now that you mentioned it. That would be great!
Something for mixing loops and stems on a timeline that is fast and fluid. No sequencing, no iaa or AU, just great timeline based audio chopping / arranging / mixing of loops and stems.
A soundfont editor.
Keyboard shortcuts, and a sequencer that allows fine adjustment (nudging) of midi start times for programming grooves.
For me it would be logic, with the fx and instruments (including camel space and phat), some audio repair tools and some sweet sweet saturation, altho to be far I'm spoiled with saturn, also a big ipad and pencil.
Ikaossilator update with sampler for creating custom instruments, midi in/out, 4 additional tracks with options to bounce multiple tracks down to a single track, a toggle that switches the Kaoss to fx recording in the same fashion as notes, with up to 8 simultaneous fx "tracks" with x and y parameters, and update the loop list to record pattern switches, solos, mutes, everything. Volume and panning. Maximum music, maximum fun, minimal fuss right there.
Seriously, when is somebody going to make an Ableton Live Session view clone?
we've got clones for everything else under the sun but for some reason probably the most important kind of app we need just continually gets forgotten about. There are some that are close but nobody really setting out to do this, it's a shame that the only dev who said they were going to do this was that shiesty Nvdr who made that Mosaic crapp a while back
Since updating to 10.2 my Air2 doesn't get stuck as much but it STILL happens which to me is just ridiculous considering it's such a basic, core feature. It's like if the brightness control always stayed on zero making the screen super overcast...silly.
I think file management is the big impediment from being totally professional for most producers. With work arounds I've learned to live with it but I can see it being a deal breaker for some.
There's not really any huge bedrock blackholes in the iOS production realm. There's great I/O now with lightning to USB 3 with charging, there's several DAW options, three different connectivity protocols (AB/IAA/AUv3) and an abundance of excellent soft synths, guitar amp emulators, sound design tools and effects.
Just gotta use them. Any creative roadblocks I have are due to lack of time or lack of energy/focus to do it. The abundance of choice & extraordinary amonts of toys only makes that harder...I think there's more than enough available to make viable music.
I thought it was fixed - didn't have any issues for a couple of weeks, then it came back with a vengeance.
I'd say it isn't as bad as before, but as it seems to be a random thing you never be sure.
If my iPad was still in guarantee I'd ask for a refund and get a different model - it's a serious usability issue.
Since i keep butting up against this, a global audio channel setting would be so great. I am always ending up with sound coming out of one side of my headphones when an app wont let me choose just channel 1 from my interface and just automagically assumes i want channel 1 and 2
AppleTV audiovideo fx processor for airplay devices like livefx but controllable from remote instead touchscreen.
Dancers controlling audiovideo fx with gestures.
So only about a hundred features or so.
