Korg Gadget Chase Pattern?

I swear this is possible to do, but I cannot find function for it. I've even read the manual! Can I not have the piano roll patterns move along with the cursor?

EDIT: I must be asking this incorrectly. I want the piano roll to scroll along with the playback head in whatever gadget I'm working out – let's say Berlin. In Modstep you click on the Chase button, and it works. What do you do in Gadget?

  • Well. I got some bad news. You can't make it chase. That being said you can expand the view to 8 bars so if you stick to 8 bars you can have it all displayed on screen. Just press and hold the first bar then Tap on the bar you want to extend to. E.g:- tap and hold bar1 then press bar 8. This also works if done from bar 9-16. personally I prefer to use 4 bars so I can see the notes clearly. This limitation of gadget is primarily why I actually do all my midi sequencing in modstep and only "print" the notes in gadget when I'm done with the basic writing of all the notes.

Not certain I am wholly comfortable with your new avatar, it's like an old friend just walked back in the room after some major plastic surgery, but I DO appreciate the tip :)

  • Thanks. I thought that was the case. Gets a little tricky when the notes span more than one bar.

Yeah I guess I didn't know what you meant by tapping first bar and holding! That's not entirely intuitive!

I'm guessing you got it now ? don't remember where i had seen it but a youtube video tutorial showed me that and changed gadgets pianoroll from useless to somewhat ok.
modstep is a billion times better still though.... i might make a video how to quickly print midi from modstep into gadget using link when i can. bit busy these days though...

  • Please? That would really help.
