USB Type-C, $1000.00, no home button, curved screen. Do all of the latest laptops and tablets use this USB type-C?

Pfff not another change of connector. Another bunch of accessories rendered useless.
Yes, but you're buying into the future, well for a couple of years, then it's history's 'junk'.
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/satechi-usb-c-adapter-hub-with-usb-charging-ports-silver-p57286.htm Then again if it meant you could use something like this it might be good
How many adapters do you have except cck?
I have several 30pn to Lightning adaptors for old 30 pin accessories alesis io dock Sony alarm clock sd card reader etc
I also now have a bunch of lightning accessories line6 sonic port, iconnectivity 2 focusrite pocket.
Will they sell lightning to USB C adaptors to hang on to the end of my 30 pin to lightning adaptors?
Yes I have a Line 6 Sonic Port, a Zoom IQ5 and a Shure MV51. Glad I never bought the iTrack Dock though, that would have been a mistake.
Except be able to plug your headphones in without a dongle....
That's the cost of progress. It's not us but our children's children will pay the real price so relax everybody.
In other news. Seems like nothing's changed with he way Apple does the business. Us, being the niche market can't expect to be catered for specifically so let's dig into the trenches and look out for the enemy I say.
P.s. And docks (however nice they sound and truly are) have always been landfill candidates number one.
Yep, but the you can ask yourself if you should blindly follow this kind of progress. Who needs 3D (totally failed again a few years ago), VR (is totally failing again at the moment) or 4K (if everything is 4K you need those devices, but who needs this supersharp displays anyway) or in the near future 8K. In my eyes tech advances nowadays only because of economic reasons.
According to other reports I've read, it's questionable whether this means there will be a USB-c port on the phone or Apple will include a Lightning to USB-c cable in the box.
You're totally right, but not every company follows this line of thinking. That's why we don't have VR, 3D, etc in iPhone as opposed to other brands.
Anyway, I'd be happy to ditch my lightning adapter + USB hub setup and switch over to USB-C. And because it's USB, you won't even have to use any adapters – at least in my case, all of my hardware has detachable USB-B cables, so I can replace them with new USB-B to USB-C ones.
Good that you didn't invest in all those iRig stuff and other expensive gear (microphones) that use lighting
With that said although Apple didn't go into this hyped 3D ea stuff they so far always to happen quite peculiar (non-standard) plugs. Good to see that they will support a really broad used standard like USB-C. Will make a lot of things much cheaper ![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Yes Apple will give us indestructible devices, only to be rendered near useless with a few iOS major updates, the cost is not happening for our children, no, in some distant land children search through our poisonous cast-offs at this very moment, trying to survive. Now I would sooner have a device that I could open up and upgrade, to maximise it's lifespan, now if only we had £thical Corporation$.
Thunderbolt 3 please for my iOS devices![:# :#](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/grimace.png)
Going USB-C is a good idea long term![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Agreed. So now we'll just have to wait and see, how Apple will cripple USB-C functionality, and how they will assure that we all have to buy overpriced Apple-dongles.
£thical Corporation$![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Good news:

But…

@richardyot, can I ask what you don't like about the iTrack Dock? It's what I use, but I've only been at it a couple months and have only done MIDI recording, no audio yet. Been totally happy with it so far though.
I'm guessing because it strictly/exclusively uses the lightning connector/dock? It's pretty much nailed to that right? focusrite makes some pretty Boss stuff, so if the quality is anything like my 2i4, then I;m sure it sounds great!
If Apple ditches the Lightning connector then the dock becomes a paperweight....
Great name for a band.
No kidding...........it is..........
What if I had some iRig device that had a hardwired lightning connector? And them charging a $1000 pricetag for the entry level iPhone 8? Who are they trying to kid?
If Android had even 10% of the music apps that iPad has and had an Android version of ProCreate, I'd ditch Apple in a heartbeat. Yet, I'm saving for an iPad Pro 2 since most Android tablets suck. When it comes to phones however, I got Caustic 3, got FL Studio Mobile, and Audio Evolution Mobile on my Droid, so fuck Apple. Harsh? Yeah, I know, but not gonna shell out a ton of money for something that has no headphone jack and wants to render my current lightning-to-headphone jack useless.
I have an lg android phone, that I use mainly as an mp3 player for music. Maybe it's because all the phones are different. But, the latency sucks bigtime when I try to use Caustic, or any keyboard app. Just the phone I got?
Latency I believe is an Android problem, but it's also to do with what phone you have. A Galaxy s7 has more processing speed than an iPad Air 2 if you stop to think about it, lol.
Latency in android is so random. My Motorola moto G3 which a cheapo android phone has next to no latency in caustic. And even powers keith McMillan kboards over OTG so it's actually useful. Meanwhile it seems like my friends iPhone 6 can't use my cck3 at all....
Yeah that's the crux of it. If Apple scupper the USB-C protocols then no support here, as the benefits of USB-C are the none propriety nature. Have they done anything odd with the USB-C spec in the new laptops?
I think USB-C would be a good move. But still I probably won't be getting the new phone if they don't bring back the 3.5mm jack. And my iPads are too new to think of upgrading them. USB-C of course would cause a lot of people to try to connect all kinds of stuff to their iDevices like external storage, keyboards and mice, which probably won't be supported and therefore would be a bit frustrating for some users...
