  • Always good to see an update. I'm usually pretty tame/subtle with my effects usage...reverb, delay, etc, but this is my go to app when I want to get a little crazy. I have other multieffects apps but like this one a lot.

  • Haven't used this for a while, but it's a good app. Nice automation.

  • This always seemed similar, but not as good as, Turnado. I have Turnado, does this bring anything different or better?

    Ease of use?

Perhaps this. I have both and choose Turnado every time.

Same here. Could be because turnado is does more rhythm based stuff. Also it appears a tad more stable than this.

Also I prefer DFXs predecessor LiveFx with simpler UI albeit with no midi sync.

  • I really do want to like it and always take it for a spin whenever it gets an update. It could be cool as a live vocal FX

Interesting idea! Might have to try that.

It's less bonkers than Turnado, less extreme, more traditional FX. The previous version was a bit CPU intensive if I remember, will test the new version later.

Yeah, the CPU definitely was under strain. I think it was bad coding as opposed to high quality effects. I have no way of knowing for sure of course.

Turnado in turn seems like a great middle ground between quality and performance. I used to get random clicks with past versions of DFX so hopefully these have been ironed out now. The potential is defo there and it would be a real pity not to be able to use it live.

  • Yay! Loved using DFX (even featured very heavily in a live performance - single iPad Mini 2, 3 controllers, and loads of Apps with MiMix). Sadly when I started using AUM I could never get it to work reliably so I gave up on it somewhat. Will try again :-)

  • Its working for the first time without crashing inside cubasis.

  • Still very glitchy on my Air2 with Reslice via AUM. Shame because I like what I'd does.

    Nice new picture mrs. Monzo.

Turnado gets my vote for best app with worst UI. So small I won't use it.

  • Have turnado but find it not appealing at all. Much prefer flux over it. Yes I agree the ui of turnado is horrible. for a glitch fest I imagine turnado rocks but not into that myself.

  • Yeah I have flux play but plan on getting the full flux version sometime. Maybe next sale? Also prefer it to turnado

  • Turnado is great, but must admit I also do like the new spin fx inside cubasis for these type of glitchy noises.

  • Turnado is so great I bought the vst. I have FLUX but haven't used it yet. Maybe if it was an AU.

Using it would definitely help you form a better opinion for others on it no doubt.

  • edited March 2017

DFX is more kaoss oriented simple and musical ,while Turnado is more chaotic and had to spend days on making musical subtle presets (until I lost them on a reinstall and never tried again)
I had flux player (NOT the full app) and after a year I can surely say it's one of top 3 useless apps I ever bought....

DFX lacks bpm sync and is a HUGE issue. I wished the update would bring IAA sync but I run to another issue :

Launch DFX inside AUM , press the icon to see the bpm ,change AUM tempo and DFX freezes . If anyone could reproduce it I will email the devs....

  • @Korakios: NO problem with AUM + DFX on my Air + IOS 9.

  • Occasionally Turnado will go absolutely bonkers and run off into the distance screaming it's own random tunes- WeeeeeaLAdeedaladeedillyadeeeeedilly-A!...... maybe I should keep my fingers off those randomize buttons.

It's a tricky beast to tame for sure. I'm glad I have it but it is, indeed, bonkers.

    Subtlety isn't it's thang ...

I meant to say 'much'. I've used it, but not on any final tracks. I found Turnado gave me more control so stuck with that.

I feel you, so much. I'll be having a good session with Turnado and then oh why not try the random, and end up with ear splitting chaos. Need to learn how to tame it a bit

Dig into the editing panel - there's a load of additional controls in there.

  • Alas DFX was always a bit glitchy & seems that it still is, crackles still occurring here on air2  A pity, as when it does do what it's supposed to, it does it quite well.

For my two penneth, Turnado is a wonder but does need some taming unless your after radical transformation. Less is often much more in this case & pulling presets back to just one or two fx at a time can produce some lovely subtle results.
Flux was somewhat disappointing after all the Belew flavoured hype & I have shamelessly underemployed it. Maybe just me but it's sound has always been somewhat thin & underpowered to my ears, particularly in comparison to the other two.

  • More than likely it depends on what your trying to do and who it is trying that any of the three apps themselves I think. Heard some interesting stuff from all of them, Flo even did a guitar piece with flux,(I think he uses it a lot). Once you come to grips with any your app and it works for you your golden anyway.

Thanks @Harro .Unfortunatelly I still have problems (tried hard/soft reset, reinstalling)
I also get glitches if a make a preset with delay and then a low pass filter modulating the frequency (with fixed resonance)
It must be a combination of iOS 10 Air2. I send an email.
It's my favorite fx app and I need it for everyday jamming

PS. If anyone wants bpm sync ,it would make sense to notify the devs!
