NanoKontrol Studio works for the Mixer I think, the older Nano's don't though
That's good. I'm not buying one
Me neither LOL
Still one of my favorite apps on iOS. I could make a fairly long list of things I'd like added, and some changes, but considering the cost and free update nature of it, I'm satisfied and don't expect anything more at this time. And it looks like Gadget will continue to evolve.
That's interesting. For resampling...
Process would be:
Export all clips to Dropbox. Import the chosen clip to Zurich. Delete clips to save Dropbox space.
All fairly doable with Gadget and Dropbox apps.
Could also work for importing a clip into Abu (if it's less than 10 secs).
I'm still not 100% sure why I'd want to do this resampling though. Other than I guess saving on performance issues.
Anyone care to enlighten me on the power of resampling other gadgets sounds into Zurich / Abu / Rosario etc?
Well, it could be used to create new sounds!
Since Gadget does not allow us to use all effects available with-in Gadget with all Gadgets it would make it possible to use say ensemble chorus on Phoenix tracks or process Dublin thru some distortion pedals.
In short I do hope Korg will allow us to route Gadget-Tracks to the new Audio-Gadgets.
I honestly don't need more Gadgets. It's bordering on overwhelming now. There is every tool I need in one place to compose. Sure, maybe if I get something good enough to really put the finishing touches on, then I would go to the trouble of exporting stems and using Auria Pro or something. But 99% of the time I'm just trying to compose, and everything I need for that is right at hand.
I don't think Recife was needed. Everything it has could have been put into one or more of the other Gadgets.
All I want is:
IAA and AudioBus input into Zurich and Rosario
IAA and AudioBus multi-out
MIDI in for transport and scene / clip launching, preferably with MIDI learn
File organization for samples
Yeah, like Samu wrote. I like to make a beat in Recife and import it into Rosario for some dark distorted vibe and mix it with the original beat, etc.
Ok thanks. And @Samu
Might try that.
I don't think Recife was needed, but it does add a 16-pad drum machine with some nice new sounds. I'm not complaining.
Korg, apparently, isn't interested in much IAA and AB compatibility. And the audio functionality is basic and brand new. The workflow they seem to be selling is mostly Gadget as a standalone sketchpad on iOS using Korg created instruments, and then with the ability to export and share projects with desktop apps -- Mac Gadget and Ableton Live offering the most functionality. As such, it's a powerful system, and pretty solid and reliable (knock on wood.) Maybe it'll evolve into a more conventional iOS music app, but that doesn't appear to be Korg's priority at the moment.
Midi out would be my ideal gadget., because the sequencer is the most usable in ios.
Better reverb would be my second wish!
Here's an example. First Recife solo, then i add the same beat through Rosario with phaser and analog delay while I go through the different amp types.
Yeh. I can live with that, but can't say I like it.
I know, but they let you import any audio you want, so no real difference - other than inconvenience to the user. Not that big of a deal though when it really comes down to it.
true dat.
My fantasy-priority-list:
1) Clip Launch (like in Ableton Live). It would free you up to mix all the different loops, while jamming / playing "live".
2) Multi-Channel Out. Would be great, if you could pass somehow each of the channels to an external (hardware- ) mixer & a multi-channel-recording-solution.
I don't think Korg's desire is to inconvenience the user. Maybe it was relatively easy to program audio import. It's an initial feature that's hugely useful. There must also be a desire to make and keep Gadget as stable and reliable a system as possible, and I don't know how they view IAA or other 3rd party technology in that regard. Then there are probably also decisions made based on their ability to control the entire presentation of their product, make it more simple and straightforward to use, and to sell IAP's. And then stuff they just haven't got to yet because they're devoting some limited amount of resources to the project.
I'm pretty happy with the overall product. I see large numbers of conveniences that far outweigh the things that could be better.
Well def some common denominators here so maybe MAYBE someone at KORG will reach to some of us for feedback.
NOT
I don't even ponder these things anymore. At the end of the day it doesn't matter why. I'm just happy that I can use Audio in Gadget now.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Not being able to place the audio where I like within a clip without resorting to workarounds is a bigger deal. That I really hope they change, but don't really expect. As someone else mentioned, Korg never seems to change Gadgets once they're released.
Gadget's chord feature is terribly flawed. I love the way you can specify the chord you want in Cubasis with the little pop up window. It's strange that we can choose the scale we want and the arpeggiation but we can't specify the chord.
It's the worst yes. It would be forgivable it was just straight triads, but they had to add that extra note.
Well to be fair if you experiment with different scales you can get some decent chords but you have no clue what they are. With Cubasis, Machine and GarageBand with a limited amount of music theory understanding you can produce a chord progression and maybe a chorus verse type of song quite easily. I suspect as others have suggested that Gadget is very dependent on being compatible with Korg hardware like the Nanokey and therefore improvements to the scale/chord feature could be hindered by that. On that point I wish Gadget could utilize the nanokey scene function to activate different mixer channels to allow the modulation of different Gadgets. Also wish the mixer screen could be maximized to get to those insert effects with better precision.
The limited chord feature in Gadget just makes open-voiced diatonic 7th chords. Not a function I care about anyway, but maybe Korg just threw it in as a placeholder for more functionality they can add to later. If you do want to use it for triads, though, you can record and erase the top note in each chord. It could also be used to quickly enter some chords by playing that can be manually altered in the editor after recording.
Recife seems redundant, probably because it is. Would have much rather seen a more fleshed out drum synth.
At this point though, considering the updates are free, it's all gravy to me.
I would like some little things updated.
Loop options (repeat whole song instead of it just stopping at the end) for writing purposes
In Abu Dhabi allow me to delete markers so I can run longer snippets
Better knob functionality. Spend a lot of time trying to adjust the numbers or at least allow me to type a number in.
In the automation window allow me to seperate my sounds instead of them overlapping each other and trying to figure out which one I'm adjusting.
And if of course the big ones Recife taking samples and diff inputs into Zurich. A merge option would be cool to combine multiple sounds to make a sample.
You can slide the far right marker off to the right, rinse & repeat for longer slices.
