Recording at 96k/24Bit in Korg Gadget

Hi,

Did anyone successfully recorded 96k/24bit audio in Korg Gadget?

I did some tests with the iConnectAUDIO4+, but no cigar...

Here is what i did:

  • Configured iConnectAUDIO4+ to 96k/24bit,
  • created a brand new project from Gadget with a Zurich track,
  • recorded a simple test clip,
  • exported the Gadget project folder from iTunes (projectname.gdproj2),
  • got the recorded wave from the project subfolder (/Audio/Recorded/Zurich 2017-03-29.wav).

(Note that the Gadget export feature has been ignored on purpose to avoid any audio conversions).

Unfortunately the recorded wave appears to be in 44.1k/16bit...

Repeating the same process in Auria Pro provides a recorded wave at 96k/24bit.

Looks like Gadget is not ready yet to record in something else than 44.1k/16bit, despite the new sampling rate/bit depth options from the export feature.

Did i miss something, any ideas?

  • Maybe it's just for Gadgets own synths?

Does it make all that much difference to quality? <\stupid question>

That would be a shame, especially since the new export sampling rate/bit depth options has been added at the same time as audio support...

Please do not start a debate about the utility of higher rates/depths, this is not the goal of this topic, thanks.

The 96k is debated, but I've found some advantages with it for mastering and noise removal. 24-bit is better than 16 to most people's ears (Unless they have some weird axe to grind).
