Thanks for this Doug - excellent video.
Thank you, it is a really useful effect, and having all three things like AU, Audiobus and IAA is always great
Great video Doug that shows some of what the app can do. The AU version can also be controlled in an AU host app like AUM via MIDI for the parameters of the XY pads and the Shift range for the number of semitones. As you've said, it's one of those effect apps that can do both subtle and extreme transformations of the original audio.
this is an essential app. It is really one of the most misunderstood tools in the box. It is a secret ingredient in many famous sound makers (Oskar Sala, Isao Tomita, Walter-Wendy Carlos, Keith Emerson). Nothing quite like this on IOS (and as an effect addict I have them all). Frekvens does frequency shifting but not at this level. I have an empty preset and start from that based on what I want to do. Understanding the sounds going in and how you want to transform them is important. I find the random generators useless due to this point.
Subtle to extreme is a worthy description.
From the link below (highly recommended reading):
"if you want to completely brutalize a sound, rip it apart and then glue the pieces back together like a ransom note, a frequency shifter is what you want."
Sounds like something @MonzoPro would write btw...

Here is the excellent German artist Oscar Sala (who generated all the sound effects in the Hitchcock classic The Birds on the amazing Trautonium which was fitted with a tube frequency shifter in 1965 or so). A very good example of the subtle art of frequency shift:
A must buy at this intro price.
Quite agree that having a tool that allows you to selectively change frequencies seems like a necessary ingredient to any sonic composer's toolkit - and as you mention, at this price, you just gotta.
Thanks for sharing that video - always good to get some historical perspective
And having some dice to roll is always a nice plus
Thanks for the feedback, good to hear more opinions and a comparison with Frekvens.
I use that one a lot, which is why I was interested in Bandshift. Still on the fence - I've got to buy AB3 and possibly Looperverse but haven't ruled this one out.
