@Sebastian, You mention rebooting a couple of times. I've always had good success with killing ghost apps by holding down the power button until the power-off slider shows, then holding down the home button until returned to the main screen. Is it possible that this is as effective as a restart?

I don't like thinking about having to reboot all the time. It takes longer and messes with touch-id, and some other apps I use. I'm interested if the workaround above is just as effective.

BTW, is there any way to know what is still running in the background?

    Second that

Talking of which. Is the arp in sync with cubasis in ab3

    Hard reset always works
These other apps you use can be the problem
It mustn't be a zombie iaa that causes weirdness

I'm asking because the other method I mentioned has always worked for me, without having to do a reboot. If that shortcut is less effective than a reboot then fine, but if not, it is a lot easier and quicker than a full reboot.

You won't have to reboot, but it's easier than bringing everything to the foreground and then closing it. Most of the time not rebooting will be perfectly fine. It's just one suggestion for those users who want to play in front of an audience and want to minimized the possibility for glitches.

Not for users. We might add a feature that lets you see that, but it would only make sense to advanced users like you. I'll have to think about how to design the user experience for it.

Oh, I wouldn't put that much importance behind it. I was just wondering if there was some app or utility that already could indicate that. Thanks for the answer. B)

You're welcome. No, there's no utility that I know if that can do that. Audiobus is probably one of the few apps that can detect music apps that are running in the background.

  • Never really used AB2 that much, but just recently got AUM to be able to record multiple synths mixed into AudioShare for importing into Gadget. Just realized how cool ABs state saving is, combined with AUMs routing and mixing (which is also State Saved) - instant recall of great setups ready for recording.

    Awesome :+1:

On my way to purchase AB 3 now.

Unfortunately it seems everything is still a bit broken :disappointed: many apps still need to be updated for this to work reliably. Well, the dream lives on and at least I have now supported the AB team

I would have expected to be able to long press or side slide and rearrange apps (MIDI or Audio) in a chain as is possible in AUM. Another thing you may want to add is Mix busses. And MIDI Learn for everything :sunglasses:

@Sebastian Congrats on the release. I have a question about the MIDI functions that I'd like to know about please.

If I were to use only the MIDI side of Audiobus 3, will I experience any latency related to the Audio side of things?

For example, I would like to route some external MIDI controllers through the MIDI side and use Audiobus 3 purely as a way to remap the incoming MIDI messages with the MIDI tools on various channels and send these back out to hardware synths. I'm hoping this won't cause the MIDI output to be delayed by 128 (64?) buffers or whatever the audio buffer is set to.
Would this work at near-zero latency or would I be subject to delay from the audio buffer?

    Cheers for any info.

Long press is not obvious on iPads,
I guess it works better when you are used to a 3D Touch enabled phone.
Im always like uh, I didn't know you could do that.

Funny, it’s the reverse in my case. On my iPhone, it can be difficult to distinguish between 3D Touch and long press. On iPad, since there’s no 3D Touch, there’s no confusion.
Been using long press for app arrangement and stuff like that for quite a while. The recent addition is 3D Touch.

I think it would be really useful if you could filter out which midi send/receive or filter ports ports are currently active in the AB3 list as that's also a good way of seeing which apps are open in the background.

    Yes, would be good.
And also it would be great to have a little light flashing with any incoming MIDI (and maybe also audio) signal.

  • Is there a time frame for an update to Audiobus Remote? I know it's coming, but there's no indication of whether it's a matter of days, weeks or even months.

Not that I'm impatient or anything :#

  • Bought the AB3 midi bundle and had a play around today. Really fine workflow in AB3 and with the MIDI keyboard starts to feel like we can take advantage of the paths that Audiobus opens up. So thank you @Sebastian and the rest of the team, and @JohannesD for the Midiflow apps.

Just so this doesn't come across as too sycophantic  I may have found a small issue..

I set all my outputs to Audioshare and then recorded a short ditty. From Audioshare I clicked on the Audiobus sidebar and tapped the new folder icon. I was switched back to Audiobus, the keyboard overlay popped but no dialog for the new folder name. I dismissed the keyboard then realised that I could no longer click on anything in the AB ui.

This is on an Air 1 on 10.2.1. Please ask if there is any more info I can provide.

If you can reproduce this reliably and send me the steps to do so to our zendesk thing, that would be awesome because then we can fix it. http://audiobus.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new

Good to know thanks. Tried to reproduce with a simpler setup but it worked ok. Will have a try again later with something more complex.
