So, I caved and bought SPA--just like you knew I would! And I love it both as a MIDI generator and as a filter.
However, I am getting some crackles with my Air2 with extended use of SPA--and I've never experienced crackles before... I did reboot my iPad two times to see if a cold restart would help. Hasn't seemed to. Anyone else experienced any crackling?
Yeah a little bit. I have really low latency settings though.
How low? Bummer about the crackles...
Actually, not that low now that I check: 256. Only a tiny bit of crackles when changing instruments, etc.
Cannot get Gadget to receive any MIDI from AB3 Midi...I have tried hosting Gadget in AUM which in turn is loaded into MIDI Output but seemingly no go.....No IAA Generators appear as output for MIDI
Could we have a MIDI output for CoreMIDI with selectable port and channel ? that way we could send MIDI out from AB3 Midi to Core MIDI and would allow us to use all MIDI apps as receivers ?
For now host spa and gadget in the audio section of the bus. use thumbjam for scale lock and send midi to spa and then from there to gadget. Enable ableton link in spa and gadget.
I dont have SPA yet....I was just talking about getting MIDI from the output slot in AB3 to apps that will only load either on the audio page or in AUM.
What I am trying to do is have a drum pattern in Cubasis, send it through the randomiser and into Gladstone in Gadget as a sound source .... I can't find a way of routing the MIDI fromthe randomiser into gadget
You will have to use the randomiser outside of AB just launch the app stand alone.

Yep, all the apps in the bundle can used outside AB3, very handy.
I guess you still need AB3 if you want to chain them together ? or can you start them all and route between them ?
Good question, I can't find a way to route directly between them (i.e. you can't select the in/out directly in the plug-ins), they'd have to go via some pass-through application. Would be nice to directly chain them though.
It seems to be something particular to StepPolyArp. Last night I did something similar with all four play heads of Fugue Machine into TroubleMaker, iSEM, Phasemaker, and Laplace, with two MIDI splitters, plus Funkbox running through Zero Reverb ... without a single hitch.
AB3 is a beast!
That's funny. I did the same thing last night to see if I could get crackles using four playheads of FM--set up a really complex sequence to push each app and got Elastic Drums rolling with synthesis. No crackles at all. I'll send a note to the SPA dev.

I really cant get SPA into Gadget if I use AB3. Only way is if I Link them manually. And as soon as I start AB3 the SPA says in settings its already connected to Audiobus in midiout and in. You cannot do any manual change. Are there any solutions here?
It should work if you put spa in the audio input slot of ab3.
Yeah it worked! But now I cant use Midiflow Randomizer. I wanna play around with that.
Then you need the midiflow adapter in the midi input slot, then send SPA via the midiflow adapter to Gadget through the Randomiser

Yes, use it when you want to use core midi into Audiobus with an app which doesn't yet work with AB3 midi.
I gave up trying this as I couldn't get Gadget to receive any MIDI coming from AB3 even through the MIDI adapter
Plus I got distracted trying because of Future Drummer...
I cannot get the Midi flow randomiser to work when in standalone mode and between FD and Gadget either...I get MIDI into gadget, but it is not randomised.
I did have minor success using the MIDI Randomiser, MIDI adapter and ModStep......but the state saving not working in the adapter or randomiser meant I wasn't going to do all that again.....
AB3 and Midiflow plugins are back on the shelf awaiting fixes for state saving
ok right, I've not been using Gadget much so haven't tried this.
I don't know where the issue lies, but I don't think it is SPA, seems more like Gadget receiving MIDI where AB3 is involved.
I will do some tests for you. So what exactly are you trying to do ? Future drummer=>midiflow randomiser to mess with timing and velocity for more human feel=>Gadget ?
It's working pretty well actually. Used modstep as an intermediary.
End result. Messed up timing and velocity in gadget. Just make sure quantised recording is off in gadget.

didn't use the standalone. The ab3 midiflow adapter works fine.
