AB3 Tips and Tricks

Maybe a nice idea to share some?
My tip of the day: How to play the Tabla(s) like a virtuoso?
1. start with an empty preset;
2. select the MIDI-page;
3. select as MIDI Sender (the left + in the row): Midiflow Keyboard (or a midi-channel from your midi-controler-keyboard);
4. select as MIDI Filter (the middle + in the row): StepPolyArp with (Factory-)preset One More Time;
5. select as MIDI Reciever (right + in the row): (in the Audio Units-tab) SwarPlug (from Swar Systems) and choose the Tabla as instrument;
6. press the Midiflow icon (or put your hands above your midi-controler-keyboard) and play some (random) chords......
7. Bingo....

    Made that work. Step 6 didn't make much sense (or more pertinently I didn't get any noise out of the Midiflow keyboard, but perhaps there are options that need to be turned on etc), but hitting a key on the SPA keyboard gave me a tabla player bashing away wildly at my desk. So, next step, how can I record that?

    To record your wildly bashing player: Go to the AUDIO-page and select f.i. Audioshare (or other recording-app) in the Output-slot of the row where Swarplug is showing as Input. Push the Record-button in Audioshare, go back to Midiflow Keyboard (or SPA) and bash again...
    NB. It's strange that you get no sound via the Midiflow keyboard. Maybe you need an ipad-reboot? (Because it should wotk 'automatically'.

    I think if you put Cubasis or Auria (or another DAW of your choice) in the OUTPUT slot of the AUDIO section, you should be good to go.

    Nice list by @Harro. Where do you want to record it? And do you want to record it as audio or as MIDI in a DAW?

    Shouldn't the DAW capture MIDI if it's in the OUTPUT slot of the MIDI section? That's why I asked if he wanted to record audio or MIDI.

    Yup, I would think so. In that case, he could put SwarPlug in the DAW to simultaneously record the MIDI and have it play out as a tabla. The advantage here is that he could then use the saved MIDI to pass through other percussion apps or plugins.
