Help! Audiobus 3 mental block...

So I want to route MIDI from Fugue Machine to Step Poly Arp and record the notes in Cubasis, which is straightforward. However I also want the route the MIDI to Korg Module and record that audio in Cubasis. I can't figure out how this is done. The option of MIDI THRU in Cubasis seems to be broken in this latest update so can't do it that way either, any ideas?!

Comments

  • Actually MIDI THRU only seems to be disabled when using AB3, not a Cubasis update issue

  • So looking more into this it looks like part of the problem is Korg not being AB3 ready. But this doesn't explain why no MIDI THRU when coming from AB3, @Sebastian @LFS is this an AB or Cubasis issue?

  • If you tell me the exact setup, I will try it tomorrow if I have all the apps. I have all the ones you've mentioned so far.

  • @Fruitbat1919
Quite simply it's using a sequencer in AB3 (FM in this case, SPA is unimportant) and recording the outputted MIDI in Cubasis and that MIDI driving Korg Module, ideally recording that in Cubasis too, let me know if that makes any sense! Thanks :)

  • will let you know tomorrow what I can come up with if I'm able :)

  • O and screen shots of the Audiobus pages used will help me set up quicker and have less chance of missing your intended setup, if your able to post them

  • If anyone else can help, please do, as I may end up going away for the week (so the wife has just told me lol)

It seems to have something to do with Module specifically, though. I don't even see it coming up in the list of IAA apps for Cubasis and Auria Pro even in standalone, but it does show up in AUM? I must be being blind here. :#

Midi through routing from the StepPolyArp track in Cubasis to an iM1 track in Cubasis works fine, so I don't think it's a Cubasis / AB3 issue.

  • I'm sorta lost. I think I get it, but need to know for sure what is where. What is in AudioBus 3 and what is in Cubasis? Give us some screen prints on here, will help us help you loads I'm sure :)

Route anything you want in AB3 to Cubasis as a MIDI output, and then assign Module or iM1 as an instrument in Cubasis in the track that AB3 creates.

  • @Fruitbat1919 please see the screenshots, simple midi setup but no direct way to route that midi to Cubasis and Module (doesn't show as destination). This could normally be remedied in Cubasis by using MIDI THRU, but somehow AB3 doesn't let this happen, if its set up as shown there's no sound.

@MasterOfNone I'm trying to get this happening in a single workflow, so the Module sound plays automatically, not assigned afterwards. I can do this in AB2 but without the midi routing happening externally.
