STEP OFF! │ KORG Gadget │ Performance - haQ attaQ

I couldn't have spent more than an hour with KORG Gadget before this whole project became a thing. So I decided to record some simple vocals over it and suddenly it all turned into a music video...a short music video. Step of that beat! =D

  • Rock on, Jakob! Very nice to actually SEE and hear Gadget with vocals :sunglasses:

  • @eustressor Aw thanks!

I recorded and processed the vocals live with Cubasis.

Would have loved to do it with Zurich in Gadget, but it's still missing a few tools in my opinion. :)

  • Awesome track! Love the ending how it gets more eerie :). I also think Zurich is missing a few tools but it's finally here. Hopefully Korg continues to develop it.

  • Love the 8-bit skank @jakoB_haQ !

  • Who said Gadget is only for EDM  Great work @jakoB_haQ

What's missing from Zurich in your opinion? (apart from any form of sample editing  )

    Thank you! =D
Yup they'll most likely continue working on Zurich. Just need some basic sample editing tools.

    Apart from sample editing?

Hmm... well not all "bedroom" producers have access to a quiet studio-type recording environment. It would me nice having access to a noisegate for instance.

But basic editing tools are are definitely needed. And the ability to move a sample around in the timeline would be nice. :)

    ColecoVision Street Funk!

Jakob I really dug that. Quick question: I see what you mean about Zurich, cool for quick audio recording & sample imports but for a full on vocal track the absence of a gate, limited signal processing and editing tools.

But it's early in Gadgets move towards a more complete multitrack recording solution, which Korg is more than dabbling in based on the Mac version and their advert copy.

For this project, how did you use Cubasis to record the vocals? Straight import to Zurich after editing?

    Thanks man...

    Regarding the vocals.
I record and process them inside Cubasis with (gate, deesser, compressor, EQ,). Just making my "sound".

I then export perfect 8-16 bar loops from Cubasis and import them into Zurich. Here is where I add delay and or reverb effects in the insert effect slot. =)

Thanks Jakob. I was curious if you were monitoring the track in Gadget while cutting the vox in Cubasis or if you just set the tempo, 'roped off' a set amount of measures and did work on dem vocalities.

Appreciate the inspiration & help man...

  • Yeah! That was cool! Jakob, you´re now Gangsta Rapper...

  • Bada$$ ha$ atta$.

    Tread lightly.

Ah! Should have added that I recorded the vocals in Cubasis white Gadget playing the track in the background. So I just set the tempo in Cubasis and pressed record. After recording I moved the starting point of the audio for the vocals. Cut them up and sent them into Zurich in Gadget. :)

  • @u0421793 @ErrkaPetti @Lady_App_titude Aw, I'm not sure I deserve all this praise! Thank you so much!
