Poison-202 VST/AU (Mac) is out
Hadn't seen a post for the VST/AU availability for Poison-202 and thought the info might be of interest. I already bit and have it running in Logic Pro X. Lookin' good!

Whoops. Can't delete a post. Sorry, y'all.
Runs smooth in latest LPX? Any glitches, hiccups, gripes, etc?
aawwwwesome!!!! been waiting for this vst format. now if altispace would release their app vst i would be so excited to have these 2 great ios apps as plugins.
It seems fine and sounds lovely. My gripe is with the GarageBand iOS -> LPX workflow I'd hoped for. With Poison-202 on iOS and Mac, I'd hoped that GB projects with Poison-202 in them would just open with the Mac AU loaded and set to the patch that was used on iOS. LPX seems to allow for this option when moving projects from GarageBand iOS. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to equate Poison-202 in the project with the Poison-202 AU it has access to.
Was hoping for this too. Oh well.
Do you really expect iOS prices on desktop? That would hardly be fair. I expect the move to desktop was done by Jim to finally be able to make some much deserved income off the project (which is barely possible on iOS).
Best of luck to him.
Why no windows version![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Speaking of which .... when can we expect to see some of your apps living comfortably on our desktops??![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
@brambos would love to see both Ruismakers and Troublemaker on desktop someday![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Im impressed with him doing this. Hope he does well.
I got z3ta and DRC in vst and its fun having them in ableton as well.
If it's a hit on desktop it will help iOS production grow as more musicians realize the power is also available on the iPad.
Nave, Z3ta, Sunrizer, Nlog, DRC and now Poison. Very nice, I like having VST versions of some of my favourite iOS synths
@yug and which do you use the most? Ive got Z3ta and DRC as vst too. Z3ta I dont program much but love all those patches. DRC has a great sound and easy to program. Poison might well do both!
Im curious about Sunrizer as a vst but just dont know how to program it. I should youtube it some more.
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I meant is that it's great when an iOS synth also exists in a VST/AU form and the more such synths we have the better. More choice is a good thing
I have only NLog, it sounds great but I'm not a fan of its UI. I've been considering getting DRC or Sunrizer VST. And now, when Poison-202 is out, it will be even more difficult to choose which one. Hmm, maybe not. Poison works as an Audio Unit on iOS and the other 2 don't
Demo?
I didn´t see it. The price is O.K. in desktop land but not without a demo!
I didn't see a demo. I can say that it works and sounds great. You might want to drop the dev a note.
But calling it a "price hike" seems to presume that the two platforms (desktop and mobile) are similar with similar pricing schemes, when they're really not and never have been. The two markets are different, and I wouldn't expect an iOS synth ported to desktop to have the same price (or a barely increased price) as it does on the App Store.
TBH, I assumed the price for Poison-202 desktop would be right at $70 before the release yesterday. It's $10 cheaper.
Indeed, there is no "price hike", just a very different market which can not be compared with iOS at all. If anything, we should be frowning at desktop products hitting iOS at a fraction of the normal price, not the other way around.
PPG Phonem on iOS is €20, on desktop it's €120 for exactly the same product. People aren't expecting 6 times more functionality on desktop either. It's simply a different kind of economics at play.
Besides, most of us are aware that the Appstore economics are wonky at best (better described at dysfunctional) and have very little to do with the actual value of a product.
And besides, discussions going on at GS? Gearslutz is a ghetto forum. I wouldn't base my market research on the nonsense being writting in there. Only Uli Behringer does![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Underselling your product is also a very bad tactic. Price sets expectations. If the price is too low, so will the expectations be.
$60 is a very decent price for Poison on desktop. I'd say the excellently sound-designed presets are easily worth that. I applaud Jim for taking a shot.
For me the Imaginado financial model was appealing. Their vst of DRC was $40/50 but was reduced to $20/25 when I picked it up in their sales. The ios version isnt AU so you can only run one instance so the vst version offers a real advantages for the extra cost.
Give us a sale Jim!
Like most new brands it would need to execute a good marketing strategy to build awareness
Now DRC is $89 and currently on sale at Pluginboutique for $44. Not that appealing anymore![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Bought it and in my opinion its better than system 1, midi controls configured lovely to my remote sl 37
The problem I see here is that looking at the GUI and specs the VST looks no better than a lot of freeware/magware synths. As an app it looks quite appealing but as a vst it really doesn't look like something most people would pay more than $20 for, to me anyway.
I think the selling point for me was the Prodigy presets, as a fan of the band and of synths it was a no brainer.
It provides a lot of instant inspiration for me just by playing it which i dont always get with a synth.
It has a real pure and interesting tone/texture to the sound which is pleasing to my ears.
One mans nectar is anothers poison (no pun intended), each to their own i guess.
I'm tempted to buy the app but not sure how to fit it into my new gadget setup.
