How does the harp compare to Crudebytes Celtic harp( which I have and love)?
The Classical Guitar does sound very good in the Soundcloud sampler
I just bought Beathawk the other day and am feeling it's workflow fits my style much better than my other beat-making apps. Very musical and it's easy to get good grooves going quickly. I have lotsss of IAP in iMaschine so sadly the selection of sounds in BeatHawk feels a little thin right now (but high quality), the expansions seem kinda pricey (i.e. I'll have to budget for them at the expense of some other planned purchases), and I still haven't figured out how to get user content added. Any help with references for the latter would be appreciated! I can see it being integral to my setup now. [Never mind! Figured it out. Overlooked the tiny "hamburger" menu icon...yay!]
Rats! Forgot about the Novation sale! I did the opposite and let that one slip by!
Importing user content is quite simple if using iFunBox and a desktop/laptop computer, but not quite so apparent when doing it 100% in the iPad.
First of all, tapping two fingers at once on a folder icon can allow you to import any sample into that specific folder. You can also create a new sub-directory folder within that folder if you're like me and want to keep things more tidy. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a "move sample" function yet, but I can work around that type of thing easily.
Secondly, importing does NOT seem apparent at first. Everything (Dropbox, Audioshare, etc) is hidden under the "iCloud - Import File" function. Once you choose "iCloud - Import File", you must press "Locations" in the upper left corner of the pop up to select where you want to import your sample from. If you don't see "Dropbox" or "Audioshare", press "more" to bring up a list. From there, you can enable/disable locations you could choose files from.
Thirdly, if you don't have Audioshare by now, GET Audioshare. You can use AB to record the single drum hit you want to use from iMaschine into Audioshare, trim the edges of the sample, and use the above methods I discussed above to import the sound.
EDIT: I did write UVI the other day about direct importing from Audioshare, and it IS in the pipeline.
Ifunbox if you have a PC.
yes. first of all, all three sound very good.
Miroslav is the only of the three that will give you solo instruments with different articulations. iSymphonic is the king of pre-layered orchestral sounds that can't be changed or adjusted in any way whatsoever.
BeatHawk's offering is closer to Miroslav with instrument groups and articulations easy to find and because BH can be used as aux it is possible to layer the sounds inside or outside of BeatHawk.
Hmmm. I love the Crudebyte stuff. Seems high end and quality. Am not expert enough to really compare, but I don't feel there's an overlap because I'm not going to sample/play CB (realistically) into BH. For all of that, I don't want to damn this pack with faint praise; it sounds really good to my ears....
FYI, if anyone is interested, the sale price on BeatHawk is sunsetting and will be gone soon. Got this from UVI today via email:
The Harp, Harpsichord, Guitar do sound quite good on their soundcloud. Sorry I sometimes have a tendency to ask tough questions
Didn't mean to put you on the spot
Thanks for your opinion
Thanks, @jwmmakerofmusic, that was super helpful! Also appreciate the seconding of iFunbox, @Proto!
Oh, man, it's been so long since I bought it, I can't believe what a great price that is for what you get.
The base kit offers a so much, and way more flexibility than iMaschine.
That said, iMaschine gives you 4 pads or instruments. A slightly different beast. I like it also.
You're absolutely welcome bud.
