TF15?!

OK, so I love the sounds of TF7, and I love its expressive GUI, but it lacks midi out. TF8, on the other hand, does have midi out and the same expressive playing surface. Which makes me wonder: Can TF8 drive the TF7 presets and be recorded in a midi sequencer?
This is the horizon of my midi knowledge, and I'm not even sure I know how to ask for what I want, which is basically a combination of the TF's, 7+8.

  • Sure, open both, start the arp in tf8, select its midi out ('tf8 source') for a midi track in your preferred -> daw, and also midi out ('tf7') to have -> tf7 played.

  • Thank you! But I don't need the arp, do I? I can use the key-grid — where the Tenacious Frog magic happens....

Yes, also the recorded midi track would point to tf7 on playback.

  • I'm confused. TF7 has different sounds vs TF8?

TF7 is FM, TF8 is subtractive. Different engines, different sounds.
