10.3.1 - Alchemy still works

Sorry if this is old news, but I was feeling confident and updated to 10.3.1, and Alchemy still works.

Though I got a message saying it won't work in future versions of iOS. First time I've seen that. It previously said the app would slow down my iPad. Message only pops up once, upon initially opening it after the update.

  • All old news. But could help someone who doesn't know.

Thought I saw a 10.3 update thread, but must have missed the one for 10.3.1. Hard to keep up with this crap. Think I may finally just take my iPad offline, transforming it into a piece of music hardware stacked with synth apps, midi controllers, samplers, etc.

  • I don't think 10.3.1 (as opposed to 10.3) has been covered yet, so I think you're safe from being saddled with the 'old news' label. :)

That warning "it won't work in future version of iOS" has been out since the first iOS 10.3 beta.

There's no thread for iOS 10.3.1...I think... but it hardly changed anything, in fact I'm already on iOS 10.3.2 beta and it doesn't changes anything as well, probably minor background bug fixes

Alchemy still works... I bet it will keep working till iOS 11... I think Apple planned to keep it working till they released a new version (with they technically did inside GarageBand) and in their view the responsibility to keep the app working it's no more. Might release a full version. I doubt it but who knows...

  • What's old news is alchemy will die with Ios11. Along with every single 32bit app. Not slow down. Literally die :/

So the warning is not to be taken litterally? I mean, is says future versions really means IOS 11? As far as I know IOS 10.3.2 is already in beta. Sorry if this is obvious for everyone else.

  • Thanks @1P18 for the info....is much appreciated.

  • But the GarageBand version of Alchemy doesn't have all the IAP sounds I bought in the stand alone version.

Exactly. I think a number of us will be taking the 'offline' approach with at least one ipad/phone. Or, I guess, if folks have been thinking of upgrading then their existing machine might become their museum piece...

  • Thanks @1P18
Good to know. Unless Alchemy installs on my 1 old device (which I've already done for iSequence put it on iPad 1, iOS 6...) or Apple does something about a re-do for it, no iOS 11 for me.

What's funny is that the pop up from Apple says to notify the developer, which technically is Apple
