I want to play my iPad in 'Guitar' fashion, without the tacky ion
Ok so I wanna play it as an instrument that I can move about with while jamming. I don't want a plastic toy like the ion, so am going to make my own.
The neck will just be there as a support and to make it feel Guitar like (I can't find any suitable touch midi controllers that are guitar neck shape).
Was thinking of finding a battery supply to go behind it to keep it juiced up and just run the audio out of the 3.5mm jack wired to a normal guitar Lead socket. Yeah it will be mono and lofi, but will sound good enough for purpose lol
So, should I carve out a real guitar for the idea or just make it from scratch outta wood for the base unit and add some groovy metal rods for the stem?
Designers....get designing!!!

I have no help to offer, but now I want one myself. Can you build a couple?
We had a thread going about this not long ago and there were a couple of suggestions. My main concern about playing the iPad vertically like a guitar is the ergonomics. Feels like it has to be flat somehow. More like a pedal steel than a guitar, you know?
You might want to take inspiration from Roy "Futureman" Wooten of the Flecktones, who build his own MIDI drum instrument called the Synth Axe Drumitar (basically an old Synth Axe which he decorated and attached finger drum triggers.) Dressing like a pirate optional.
Here is my suggestion![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Why not base your new thing around the electronics of of the ion though ?
Just sit down to play like an adult![:p :p](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Nope, I will have enough problems building one lol
Nope, steel guitar player are usually old with a beard....I'm am only old lol
Like the pirate bit quite a bit....
Well that's just pants....go to the back of the class lol
Because it's plastic and pants. I'm a wooden end cheek synth guy....all plastic should be not seen, hence even the iPad sides will be hidden lol
No. You can't make me....I won't. Look I'm dancing around na na nana na.....
Just. Don't. Please.
The Synth Axe! I'd recognize it anywhere!
No one should ever deny a man his keytar-ian dreams...
But in 'designers design' mode, as a guitar player I have a hard time seeing how using an iPad in this way will work. A guitar works because you have an endless supply of physical feedback from the neck and strings. I would guess awkwardly craning your neck all the time to be able to see where you're placing your fingers would defeat the sense of "rockin' frontman freedom" you desire.
I know...I know...
but who in their right mind would deny that Little Richard is a million times cooler than Edgar Winter?
I agree, but my kids do think the extended Frankenstein video is one of the most awesome-est things ever...
Ha! I use that video to torture Mrs Chasteen. She will just sit there in horrified disbelief.
My best friend was once stuck in a traffic jam in the Holland Tunnel and cranked Frankenstein on the radio to aggravate his wife. She is now his ex-wife.
