Logidy UMI3 MIDI over USB Foot Controller

Was thinking of selling my Behringer FCB1010 foot controller, when I saw this. Now I am pretty sure I will sell it and buy 1 of these. I really only use a few of the switches on the FCB1010 anyway. What do you guys think?

Of course I could spend a few more dollars and get an expression pedal built in and an extra button.

  • I really like the looks of the line 6 FBV. In fact I just found a great deal on a used MKii shortboard, I will report after I test it out.

  • The shortboard came in the mail today! (Guitar Center used gear, shipped from across the country) Just had a long jam in Loopy with just guitar and one pedal button (record, then select next track). It is so easy to use and no timing issues. All my previous foot pedals were hacks or DIY tools and never really worked great. This real pedal is heaps better. Just requires CCK + powered USB hub.

I can't wait to dream up how to use the rest of the foot buttons. I'm sure I'll use them but then again I just had a couple hours of fun with just one foot button.

If I were you, I would get the FBV Express. These Line 6 pedals are well-built, so solid. And it looks like the Express has soft buttons instead of these loud clicky things I got on the Shortboard.

I'm curious why you are giving up the FCB1010

  • @Hmtx Not giving up on the FCB1010 just thinking out loud about getting something I will actually use. The FCB1010 is large and requires external power and 5 pin midi. The 5 pin midi isn't a problem because both my main midi controller, Axiom 49 Gen 2 and my interface, iConnectAudio4+ both have 5 pin mid slots.

I am actually thinking of getting an electric guitar, haven't had one in years. So if I end up with one, I will reconsider keeping the FCB1010, since I can have multiple banks of switches. 1 bank for loopy and the others to control bias or tonestack.

I do like the FBV Express since it is USB powered. If only I had a gazzillion dollars to just buy everything.

That makes sense. The FBV Shortboard works great, just plug and play USB. I think It also has ability to set up banks in USB mode. In my setup I have to use a powered hub anyway for my audio interface, so it is easy to add the FBV. Keep your eye out for Gutar Center deals. Mine was used for $99, but looks to be in perfect condition.

  • I have the FBV Express and like it a lot......I am using it with the Line 6 Amplifii TT via the RJ45 and not using the USB though. The integration with the Line 6 is great with the built in tuner and tap tempo etc....

  • I have a Logidy and it works with any expression pedal. If you only need three it's heavy duty, well built, and comes with editing software to have it send cc notes, and can sequence. It's nice.

So, I am looking to buy the express but am a bit confused as far as it's compatibility with midi apps. I will strictly be using it as a midi controller that has nothing to do with guitars at all.

I want to use it for program changes but especially as an affordable footcontroller for Looperverse.

You can program it midimwise from a pic but not on the unit, but yes you can set it up how you want it to be setup.
