Giving some love for AB3

I don't intend to open up a whole new debate how this compares to the original AB or to AUM or even to user expectations but I do want to say I've spent the last few days enjoying several 'I get this' moments with AB3. Workflow and multi-app set up times are so much improved and MIDI effects opens up a whole new world. Yes, state saving required for more apps; yes, more MIDI options (for me) such as channel options as I think these are disabled, cc control etc., but credit once again to the dev's for pushing things further forward in the world of iOS music making. Awesome :)

Comments

  • Absolutely, the amount of work and effort that's been put into this should be celebrated.

  • No love, will wait jumping to AB4 or 5. As a consumer I didn't spot any new groundbreaking feature, 'just' midi routing which I can already do with other apps.

Still on 9.3.5. If I was on 10.3 I probably would have bought AB3 at launchday. Not only out of curiousity but also to support the devs behind AB, just because without AB making music on iOS wouldn't be what it now is.
That said so far not really feel the need to upgrade to iOS 10 just for the sole reason that I can use AB3, though with interesting upgrades in the pipeline in the end I will upgrade and of course ending up buying AB3 :)

What are you hoping to achieve by posting this?

I am genuinely interested in the mindset that decides to reply in such a way to an appreciation thread for an app ON THAT APPS FORUM.

Would it not be better just to, I dunno, post nothing?

Is your intention to highlight a cautionary tale for potential consumers or do you just wish to be contrary?

I guess poniey-up $10 to support a developer that has almost single-handedly revolutionalised iOS music integration is a bit of a stretch for some.

That AB3 will make most users workflow seamless as more apps get on board I guess is also to be disregarded.

I have a history of responding to such posts with too many words that don't warrant my time so this will be my last on this subject.

Post nothing is always an option, that doesn't stroke the ego as much but ...

  • Relax ,it's just an opinion . AB3 makes your workflow seamless ,buy it, use it. Show your AB3 love  . I am not stopping you!
I don't find any useful new feature for my workflow on 3.0 version ,will keep using AB2 with other apps. Don't understand the problem . Nothing to do with rant or ego.
The "post nothing" part is never an option for me :)

  • Yes lots of love here from me for AB3. It's great. <3

I just want more ways to use it so the more apps become compatible the better.
It's definitely pushed things forward again being able to state save midi apps in your workflow is brilliant and something I've always wanted. I'm hoping that all developers get on board the sparkly new bus :)

As a developer I think it's good to be honest with feedback. If there's nothing for @Korakios in AB3 then that's his opinion and maybe the AB guys might benefit from what he has to say. I think there's enough love already for AB3 to allow a few people to say they're not that into it without hurting anyones feelings :)

  • I'm just a (very small) pilot fish, but I really appreciate the whale's existence.

Aren't there enough threads with that type of feedback on the forum already though? I thought the point of @Trueyorky 's thread is to say thanks, and well done?

Considering the work that's gone into this, the functionality up that AB has provided iOS music makers (and developers) with, I think it'd be nice to keep this thread as a bit of a 'thank you'.

Fair enough, I don't spend that much time on the forums so wasn't that aware of how many posts there are.

  • AB3 is the cabinet, Midiflow and fugue machine the units installed, the empty space is for all the other developers......once that space is filled I am sure everyone will see what AB3 actually brings to the MIDI party.

Personally I am glad I have the cabinet and the current bits available, but it is a full cabinet that I have really invested towards.

  • I really like all the new Midi effects especially the midi keyboard for AB3 and how AB3 now lets me basically do more realtime recording via that keyboard is awesome!

With the coming KRFT midi it's gonna rock even more as I can only imagine sending or routing multiple channels to various synths drum machines, bass and wow do a complete song in one pass? Maybe soon. :)
