10.1 inch remote touch screen, turns iphone into a tablet (kickstarter)

i'm quite interested in this when it comes out
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brentmorgan/superscreen

A remote 10.1 inch touch screen which works on iOS. so you can use your phone as a tablet. Although I guess not so good for SE becomes presumably it's locked to the resolution of the phone broadcasting but would be good for ipad mini and hi resolution iPhones such as 6S 7 etc. Should be pretty good for audio because you could just use the audio from the phone. So attach the phone to an audio interface and use this screen as a controller, as long as screen update is pretty good.

Not sure on all the details but maybe you could also show two different apps at once, one on the remote and one on the phone.

Will see...

  • I thought this was a late April Fools joke. :) Isn';t that just an iPad?

Surely they can't allow that on kickstarter if you can pay money?
Also not a very good joke as remote touch screens are totally plausible and a reality.
I have one for my laptop (although its wired).

  • Don't get it, expected retail price $299. New iPad $329

  • I don't think this is a joke, and I can see how it might do well. Only one device's apps and iOS to maintain, less expensive than an iPad, you could use it for multiple devices... possibly even eventually pair it to a video or still camera for a larger live studio display of what's in your viewfinder, etc. At $300 retail, I'd likely just use an iPad.

Yes not so sure about that, I expect it will go for much less. But also it's different to a tablet because you can use it with different devices.

You can currently get one for 120 dollars if you back it though ;)

Meh... I'd rather use an iPad. I'm sure the lag will be a killer, inevitable no matter how good the product is. (If you hate the lag of old iPad models, imagine that and double it), the demo looks good...yes... every demo looks good.

A solution asking for a problem.

$30 more and you can have a real iPad, that you can pick up tomorrow and not wait for the kickstarter to be fulfilled (or risk it not being fulfilled).

  • Probably too much lag for controlling music apps but there's certainly a big market for remote screens Particularly for video assist. Good for remote photography too.

I have no words. Backed by $2mil ???????????

Almost as good an idea as the TouchBar on MacBook Pro

Edit: sorry to be negative, I ... this just has zero appeal to me.

  • I just got splashtop xdisplay and using the iPad with the Macbook Air as a second screen is neat.
