Ever since ios 10 my ipad has gone downhill batterywise
Why? Because my gut feeling is apple is doing this on purpose
(I have an air2 btw, the rotation bug kind)
Sorry, I'm sleep deprived, but I can't shake the feeling...

Battery on phone has gotten better in my end. Who knows?
It destroyed the battery life on my Mini 4 and my Air 2. I really regret not leaving them on 9 now. It was the constant nag screens that drove me to upgrade them more than anything.
Planned Obsolescence.
Aside from the JFK Assassination (that WAS a conspiracy), I try not to get all tin foil hat with everything but... I'm thinking Apple purposefully uses engineered obsolescence techniques or doesn't go full out to test & R&D new iOS versions on every iDevice.
There's guys here on the forum who still use iPad 2's for music, be it just as a synth or to run an app to be used in conjunction with another newer iPad (AB Remote, etc) These iPads are stout, extremely well made. It's a huge reason they're so successful, their reputation for quality.
I debated going from 8.4 on my then new Air 2 to iOS 9, so it too me over a year to do so. I thought it went great and was tempted again when 10 came out but was trepidatious again. I caved in, mainly due to many apps I dug going iOS10 only on their new updates.
Other than battery issues 10's been okay; the orientation bug that plagued us Air 2 owners seems to have left too. But iOS 11 is where I draw the line. iOS 10 making my battery lose 2 hrs of juice it used to have is really lame.
Im not going to gamble even more issues creeping in just to be on the latest & greatest. I really am interested in the new 9.7 Pro so it will have it. Then by the time iOS 14 comes around my Pro will take a shit...all part of our capitalist consumer society.
I honestly haven't noticed any change, and I'm compulsive about checking my battery percentage. If it gets below 40%, I start getting anxious about when I need to plug it in vs. keep playing MIDI
Haven't noticed any changes.
Air 1 - no change
No changes here on any device running iOS 10.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Conspiracy theories are so 2002
With iOS 10.0#, the battery did take a nosedive. I phoned Apple about it and bitched and moaned. 10.1 stopped the battery drainage real good. 10.2 further improved it to the point it became pre-iOS10 quality. I'm still holding off on 10.3 for now.
Here's a question I'm curious about. Is everyone who's experiencing battery issues someone that did a major iOS upgrade on the device itself ?
E.g:- 9->10 ? If so there's your reason. Backup your device and restore using a PC/Mac. Both iOS and Android devices sometimes get battery problems when you do a major is upgrade without a full reset.
Air2, no changes here. Does seem like my iPhone7 gets better battery life since 10 though.
Anytime there's a major OS update I always test my apps first to make sure all is well, then do a full Erase thenrestore from iCloud Backup to start fresh.
To be honest I find my battery life better on iOS 10 than 9
It's better on my end too. Air2. That being said I hadn't done a full reset for 9.3.5 but I did do it for Ios 10.3
Noticed mine drains quicker, but maybe it's just showing its age.
Try this:
Your battery issue should be solved now. Sorry. I whish i could offer you a faster and less annoying method. Try it. It is a bit like building up a computer from start.
Gadget 3 is killing my battery more than anything else.
Same here, otherwise no noticeable changes and believe me I monitor the battery life very carefully...
