Sample Modeling on iOS?
I wonder if it would be feasible to create an iOS equivalent of the Sample Modeling Kontakt libraries.
The desktop versions are very expensive and I don't want to spend 180€ just for a trumpet library, however awesome it may be.
The technology doesn't seem to use a lot of storage but definitely requires good processing power but on current iPad Pros and maybe even the newest iPhones it should be possible.
So is there a dev willing and able to build iOS apps like that? I'm willing to pay good money in iOS terms... My EWI is craving for it!

Do you mean stuff like Embertone Sensual Sax for iPad?
I think we'll see more like that (Maybe even from UVI) but I doubt NI will invest any further in iOS until it become a more proven market
I'm talking about this: http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/products.php

Doesn't Geoshred use modeling (for guitar sounds, not brass, but still)? I think it's totally feasible, but I don't know about any modeling app for brass on iOS...
Here's samplemodeling.com's take on the topic which seems very informative. It seems to be a focus on physical modeling synthesis which tries to duplicate the sounds of acoustic instruments as closely as possible.
While @theconnactic points out how GeoShred uses physical modeling synthesis, it does not go nearly as far as the approach discussed in the link above in terms of replicating acoustic instruments.
I would also add the software requires a lot more controller input than any iOS app that I'm aware of to create the sounds. I have no knowledge about how much CPU/memory are needed to use these instruments so it'd be interesting to find out. It would seem difficult if not impossible to run this software without having external MIDI controllers or creating extensive MIDI automation to control them as the input from the touch screen wouldn't be sufficient.
I'm mainly interested in using this in conjunction with the EWI and with my USB breath controller but I could definitely see the touch screen as a great alternative input for modulation and expression with XY pads, accelerometer, 3D Touch and Animoog style onscreen keyboard. And yes, this technology is on a completely different level than anything on iOS so far.
Samplemodeling have patented their technology, so for the time being it is only them who could create such an iOS app. It has been discussed in their forum, and the answer was (around 2015, don't remember exactly) that they have no plans for an iOS app.
I would think that with the latest iPads it would be possible to have one or more instances of Samplemodeling apps. You can go to their forum and ask for it.
