Which is iOS most useful sequencer
Now that we have AB3 and the midi plugins..what do we think, which are the best inputs.....which setup gives the best sequencing into AB3?
Comments
Best sequencers is a very broad question.
fugue machine is amazing.
modstep is phenomenal.
cubasis is solid.
patterning is a delight.
Genome. Well. The UI needs some love.
Lemur. Well, I just need to learn to make my own.
Most useful? StepPolyArp. Beyond it's versatility, probably the best too.
InfiniteLooper midi looping and composing. Universal. Captures from other apps. Drives synths or internal sound fonts.
MidiSequencer is bomb.
The one I use the most often to generate ideas though is Xynthesizr! Still my number one.
Dot melody and Oscilab are fun too. Lots of options for messing fast with melodies.
Over the top in options is DifferentDrummer. I've accomplished things with it but it's still beyond my ken as of now.
Auxy and Medly are pretty straight forward and I appreciate the export options but they lack that bit of happy accident that the others have in being able to quickly muck about without loosing momentum.
Wish I had a iPad for StepPoly and Fugue![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Modstep,
StepPolyArp and Fugue Machine are my most used since AB3 launch
Once Chordflow gets AB3 midi it will be up there as well, same with KRFT
Its the dutch kroket.
Was having a laugh reading this lineup by Hollin Jones

A great example of sloppy journalism or perhaps even "paid for" reviews.
Modstep, 3 daws, Lemur, Impc Pro and Tabletop. Seriously?
Genome
Infin -phone
Genome - pad
I never found any that i really liked. Built my own in Lemur, that was so much fun! The pattern loading/chaining was especially hard...But went for a Beatstep pro instead...
If anyone wants to continue my work: https://liine.net/en/community/user-library/view/500/
Add Oscilab, please.
Xynthesizr, Genome , MidiSTEPs, StepPolyArp And the new chordflow .i can't choose one they have all their specificities (weak and strong points).A Randomizer (xynthesizr & StepPolyArp) is a big aid when musical inspiration is lost ...
Well. Modstep sending midi to Aux hosted in AUM means Aux automation. Plus all the goodness of mix busses etc![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Ha, i love these.....even when i know what´s inside.![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
What about caipirinha with frango a passarinho?![](https://forum.audiob.us/uploads/editor/fr/1i0ht1e43j1b.jpg)
Never heard of it, but must admit it looks very tasty.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I don't miss drinking, but I do miss the taste of caipirinhas....
I totally disagree with the above. Modstep is a dependable host these days.
I have not actually used a sequencer yet as I have been relying on apps with built-in sequencers like Gadget.
I have always managed to convince myself that I would get in a complete pickle trying to use them- given my previous experience with hardware- where I tended to rely on midi sync only.
The best one for me would have-
1) Actual (virtual) knobs to twist and turn on the sequencer
2) An easy definable way of mapping the knobs to their destination- like Cutoff/ Rez etc of any given app-
3) A keyboard for step entry of notes.
4) The same keyboard for real-time recording of notes.
5) A graphic representation- grid/piano roll of the activity.
Is there a sequencer that does this?
If I could use something like Gadget to control other synths then that would be just great.
Yep. Opinion threads are fun but if you want actual feedback, a little bit of qualification would help. At the very least: do you mean a sequencer to put together entire songs with editing and all that jazz or a step sequencer?
BM3 perhaps?
In the spirit of the new
Quantum
Not after specific feedback, just after an idea of what is working workflow wise with AB3 for peeps.
This is on the daily mental checklist: I wonder how that app that I know almost nothing about but is sure to solve all my problems is coming along....
Different drummer is the most unique and creative animal
Agreed
Gadget here.
