Best interface for multi channel recording

For my own purposes, I record via a single line-in, but a geezer in our band want to be able to record multiple channels at once.

I know Auria can handle this, but what's the best mixer type hardware interface for recording in say, up to 8 tracks at a time?

He doesn't like the touch screen much, so hardware sliders would be essential.

Somewhere on the Auria website is a link to interfaces they have tested to work, that's a useful start. Personally, although I haven't bought anything yet, I have been looking at the Allen & Heath ZEDi range (like the ZEDi-10) and the Soundcraft Signature mixers - the 12MTK is 12/14 channels over USB, otherwise the non-MTKs are just 2-channel. I'm saving for the Keith McMillen K-mix however! It does have touch-sensitive sliders... but it may be overkill for your mate's requirements...

Edit: Here's the link for Auria interfaces: auriaapp.com/Support/auria-audio-interfaces
