Any apps like Korg Volca Sample out there?

I am thinking that Abu Dhabi in Gadget will be the closest- Is there any others along these lines?

  • Not that I know, if you are looking for the same, basic features. But if you are looking for something with those features and something else, well, there you go:
Bilbao rather than abudhabi in gadget(it has the very same set of controls and a couple more)
    Elastic drums sampler
    Patterning
    iSpark
    DM1
    Attack
    Stroke Machine

  • What about the volca sample are you looking to replicate? I think the "iOS classics" Nanostudio and BeatMaker probably come pretty close with multiple tracks, basic sample manipulation and a sequencer.

Bonus: they both let you actually sample. ;)

  • Thanks for the ideas- but yes- as you say the examples don't quite fit the bill. I take your point about Bilbao- though I find it quite hard to get a grip on moving the knobs smoothly (as I also do when trying to move the general effect knobs ).

Yes the Volca factor I was hoping for was- sampler/sequencer where I could quickly manipulate various parameters (several at one time) in a live way- and then being able to quickly switch to doing the same with other parameters after perhaps switching tracks-without having to menu dive to get to them. All the knobs on the Volca are there for instant access.

IMO the ED sampler really fit the bill better than Bilbao. You'll miss the pitch eg, and to be honest I can't recall a sequenced drum machine on iOS that does that. For every other parameter you get the same controls as VS plus sustain, loop and per part fx. The workflow is similar as well: select the instrument you want to edit and edit; all the parameters are exposed; you can record and edit automations pushing one botton

  • Great- thanks- I shall check that out. I didn't even know that Elastic Drums could import samples.... From Audioshare too!
    Cheers

  • Have just purchased Stroke Machine. I can't understand in my head why I didn't buy it a while ago- I have bought a lot of apps - but something stubbornly in my head stopped me.

  • Awesome machine. It is actually a clone of Waldorf attack made by wolfram Franke aka the developer behind the original Attack. With some plus'. Great machine. Too great for me since day one

  • There are no cut groups for elastic drums are there? Looked but I couldn't find them. That limits it a little for me as a sampler, but still muy bueno.

In case anyone else overlooks it, long-press on the sample graphic to reset all envelope parameters. I was much happier with this once I found that.

Just looked it up on the app store. It looks like the gui might give me stroke lol
