TC-11 versus TC-data

  • There's a TC-Data guide for babies somewhere in this forum. I know cause I'm a baby.

  • Can someone confirm if TC-11 arp/sequencer/LFO/fx can sync to external clock or Link? Really interested in it, but would prefer to know this answer before dropping the dough.

  • @soundshaper Sadly not. Also not possible to set a global tempo or key when browsing patches....
Emailed the developer to ask about the possibility of either of these features being added and was ignored.
    Awesome :/

  • @soundshaper This is one of those apps that you could spend weeks/months/years to fully understand all the possibilities. Another option is to open it up and see what happens while feeling like it's the year 2525.

TC Perfomer is a player version for iPhone which is free (I think) and will give you an taste of what the app is about.

I love the 4 patches on one screen setup in the full version, definitely not a conventional synth and won't be for everyone!

  • I emailed the devs with a question about TC Data controlling surround panning options for installations - controlling DAW panning....

    • no reply.
Leaves me faithless in continuing development, and my enthusiasm for the product.
  • It shouldn't be too difficult to assign some Midi-CCs to control a sourround mixer from TC-Data.
TC-11 is a live instrument in the first place and imho 'live' is something non-quantized.
Never had a problem with any of those two apps, they are focussed on what they are supposed to do - for me the lack of 'updates' is a mark of quality o:)

Darn. Well that kinda makes the Arp unusable alongside other apps in a rhythmic track. However, the interface is so cool, it would be fun to do some non-tempo specific sounds with it, and even do some “freestyle” performances.

    Really??
I assume you must also think that ignoring paying customers polite suggestions for possible improvements is also a sign of quality?
To me it just seems impolite at best...

  • If you scroll down a bit he talks about MIDI sync and TC-11: http://www.kevinschlei.com/

  • Cool, he mentioned MIDI sync 3 years ago :p
Being busy isn't really an excuse not to at least reply to customer's emails though IMO.
Even an automated response would be better than feeling ignored!
The direct communication between the developer and customer is part of what I enjoy about the iOS music App scene though, so I just find this a bit of a shame in this case.

  • @soundshaper As @BlueGreenSpiral wrote before, I would try out TC Performer to get a taste of whether the full version would be to your taste.
I personally find the lack of scale/tempo lock when changing patches makes it pretty difficult/time consuming to fit the patches into an existing project but you might feel differently.
