StepPolyArp - Strangeness

I'm now at the point with StepPolyArp where I sort of know what I am doing with it and how I want to use it....
I have a pattern programmed, Arp enabled...
I am sending in root notes from ModStep......MidiIn and clock in set to ModStep.
Currently Im using the internal piano sound, which is all I need to check out my pattern and chord progressions.

When I play my track in ModStep, StepPolyArp does not start when the first note is sent to it....it starts after 4-5 bars, or if I bring SPA to the foreground.

Second issue is with the timing, If I have SPA set to 16D time, then 1 bar in SPA is 1 + 1/2 bars in ModStep with the same tempo,

Can any SPA veterans tell me where I am going wrong ?

use ableton link enabled on both. Spa and modstep work brilliantly together with link on. i gave up long ago using midi clock at all on IOS.

Not ideal as I will want to do this same thing using circuit instead of/as well as ModStep.....I'll give it a go though, but will have to use MIDI Link Sync when using the Circuit :|

  • I'm only using Link these days so not sure about this but I am having some other issues with SPA deleting presets from the app including iCloud.

Had a brief chat with the developer and seem to think it might be iCloud not the app with the issue but best to back up presets in case regularly.

Luckily state saving does seem to include the preset.

Using link the sound starts from SPA with no issues now, so obviously there is some issue with SPA picking up the MIDI Clock from ModStep....
Where this seems to be working the timing seems off.....I have a drum loops programmed in ModStep, Trigger notes for SPA in ModStep, but when playing the track SPA seems slightly behind the rest, this happens when using the internal sounds in SPA and also when routing the Midi Out back to another track in ModStep....If it only happened when send midi back to modStep i would assume it was some latency with the round trip, but with it happening on the internal SPA sounds too I am not so sure.

Haven't noticed a lag myself when playing funk drummer, modstep midi to SPA and gadget. Will do further tests and check.
