Unique features you would like to see in other tools...

So, some tools/synths/apps offer some unique and useful features you won´t see anywhere else (or very seldom).
So what special feature would you like to have for other apps?
I f.e. really love the visual feedback in Mitosynth LFO´s. Means if you modulate and LFO with another LFO you normally just do it by hearing the effect but with Mitosynth you also directly get a visual feedback and how the second (or third, fourth etc.) LFO affects the first. So it´s more like an oscilloscope for LFO rather than a static visual shape, even when you modulate it.
I´m not aware of any synth out there which offers the same.

  • I think you just sold me on Mitosynth. I have been watching this one for a while. I recently started really diving into programming synths and trying to understand everything. LayR makes things fairly easy to understand but having visual feedback would be awesome.

Mitosynth is a complete other synth, so don´t trust my likings too much here.
F.e. i´m not impressed by LayR but a lot other people.
    Preferences!

  • MitoSynth sounds great. Think its because its layering synth sounds with samples. Great for soundscapes and tripppy ambient sounds. One of the best presets i have heard so far using a synth.

While the synth engine itself is not really so advanced i agree that the sample sources (and the very awesome vector synthesis on steroids) give you so much options for unique sounds.
I have somewhere posted an updated patch bank i made some time ago.
There will be another update soon.
Mitosynth still has also the best tagging, patch and sound browser.
It´s a bit of a shame that it seems the development is done or will not be extended.
I can understand that and hope there will be a version 2 someday.

I must admit i just start using it since last week because it was very buggy in the beginning (2 years ago), but after i gave it a retry last week i realized how powerfull and unique it sounds. Only little anoying thing is when i tweak with the parameters it sometimes takes seconds before the settings got applied and hearable. Version 2 would be great :)

Is this patch bank you are talking about the free cinebient presets ?

Yes, i think i posted an updated bank with 110 patches somewhere (kvr i think). Maybe also here, can´t even remember.
I had a second more advanced patch bank but i never make back-ups (uups) and then bought a new iPhone 6S plus (my only iOS device at the moment) and i had to start new since i just saved my first patch bank.
Most of the patches where made with the beta version i tested and i added about 20-30 after that.
But it gots some new features like the 16 step-sequence and some other things i even don´t touched there.
I also thought more about which kind of samples works great as single shots since Mitosynth don´t support multi-sampled stuff.
I recently started to begin with some new patches as sound source for some of my plug-ins and explored again how funny it was to play with Mitosynth. So i might make a complete new one (but maybe just a small with 25 patches) if i find the time (a problem if you have too much tools).
Really great sound sources are some more advanced synths and FX on my notebook, organic sounding physical modeling like Sculpture or things like the Finger Fiddle.
The good thing is you can share your custom created synth sounds within the patches while you can´t do that of course with samples you bought or don´t created yourself.
So Mitosynth also offers an easy way to share some custom made sampled stuff which can be used for other patches if someone want. But the price would be a bigger size to download (maybe several 100´s MB).

  • @gmslayton not trying to add to the burden on the family budget, but my guess is you will find Mito very interesting...

  • Nanoloop has a bunch of really great grid manipulation shortcuts I wish every grid based sequencer had.

  • I love how KRFT lest you tap a dial to go back to the default setting. Apparently this is done by some other apps, tap the dial and it goes to the patches default setting, but I would love to see more of it.

I was using your Texture 2 preset earlier this evening.
    Thanks again.

  • If there isn't a copyright issue, I think the way Different Drummer uses waves to influence rhythm is the most unique approach out there and would love to see how other devs might incorporate it.

  • Being able to burn my audioshare song files including stems made from other iOS music apps onto a CD!

  • What is a CD?

  • The smart piano of Garage Band (with scales, chords, auto play, Arp) is unique .The kaosspads of Korg (ipolysix, odeyssey, wavestation) as well .I would love to find those features on others synths ...

  • audio import and export in all drum apps

Thank you. One of the other unique feature of Mitosynth is the vector/wavesequencing like thing it offers.
F.e. you can use 32 sound sources which you can crossblend in a lot of different ways of modulations or manually via the XY pads.
If you f.e. record the same sample in different octaves and with different reverbs and reverb amounts, distortion, whatever FX. Put 32 of them into one Mitosynth patch you get easy such patches like Alchemy offers.
It doesn´t work always good but often if you use a huge reverb and record them into the sample it doesn´t get muddy and too washed if you playing big chords compared to directly use the reverb inside the synth or playing it live trough a FX chain.
I try to make such a patch as an example and post it here to see what i mean....

    Great tips and tricks.

    Great tips and tricks.

You can record them directly with Mitosynth but you also can import from most of the common iOS sources.
You then can set the samples to one shot or looped (with a little useful smoothing crossfade option, 50 % works best mostly). You also can tune your sample via hz. The downside is that you have to save the setting and you can´t change it per patch.
I use Mitosynth indeed mainly as kind of very versatile sample player.
    Example here:
I just began to create some patches with 9 sound sources i just created today with one custom made Alchemy 2 patch and recorded a 5 bar at 120 bpm 8 times with different FX each time (some of them are just slightly different).
For the 9th i layered them all up (not included yet in this patch).
Here is an example how you can create f.e.interesting sci-fi like texture with just using some sound sources (remember you could use up to 32 and can combine that with the synth engine and included FX if you like).
I will soon upload a few patches which uses this "sample content" here (plus some more).
One patch here to try what i mean: I recommend to sustain 1-2 notes in the C2-C3 range....then use the XY pad 1 X axis to slowly crossblend......think about i just didn´t touched the synth engine here and you can do much much more things via FX and modulation:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/jt5m39zor93n20f/Transmorph XY.mitosynth-package?dl=0
Indeed it would take a lot time and i still think there is no market (even for free) to create a larger and more well crafted patch bank for this.
But i would like to create a little bank with some stuff from the iOS community. F.e. with guitar samples or other acoustic instruments i don´t own or could play myself (other via virtual instruments which i couldn´t share then).
However, i will try to create a little sci-fi soundscape, FX patch, impact bank ala Galaxyexplorer style (my alter iOS ego) based on those samples. Maybe i call it the Curse Of Galaxyexplorer lol-

    +1000.

Going to play with mitosynth today and study your patch(es). Learned a lot new things today. :)

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

Haha, this patch you just uploaded is brilliant for a natural high and drift away into space. Like your taste.

  • Note replace loop recording with visual feedback ala iKaossilator. Basically everything in iKaossilator can and should be done in as many iterations possible.

Thank´s. I put the same sources into Alchemy 2. Oh, it´s even much more interesting what you can do there.
I just wish there was a way to import and share Alchemy 2 patches with the iOS GB version.
Even the old (better) iOS version had that option to import Alchemy patches you created on desktop.
A sad example where iOS made a step back (due to Apple).......

  • Returning to the subject of this thread, lol. One feature i would love to see in all apps are assignable LFOs for all controls like ApeSoft does.

    Well I can't disagree here

  • Developers don't need consultants. We need programmers willing to implement all those feature requests for free. ;)
