is it 64bit?
I think it must be. No warnings, and not on the death list.
Thanks, was tempted last time this went on sale. Hmm it may be one of those apps I'll play a bit then hardly ever open though![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
What exactly are it's midi capabilities?
EDIT: Never mind, just watched some YouTube videos. It does a fair amount of midi out. Definitely looks like fun and potentially useful, especially for this low cost.
I've had this on my list off and on, but never bit because I wasn't wild about it's internal synths, drums, etc. but with midi out... could be fun.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Really fun groovebox at a low cost. Was jamming with my son this morning. It's already paid for itself in that respect. Haven't even looked at the MIDI out yet.
Downloaded it years ago when it was free. Never really got in to it because what I remember was too complex.
I love this thing! I don't even know WTH i am doing with it most of the time. It is kinda complex. But sooo much fun.
Their other apps, OMguitar and Futulele are $1 each at the moment. Haven't tried the guitar one yet but today had lots of fun playing the ukulele
you can even use your iPhone as a controller
I got this as kind of a guilty pleasure, but I'm loving this app much more than I anticipated after reading its manual and figuring out all it can do. Best $2 I've spent in a while.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
sigh...
And, what's making you "sigh" sport?
Not having an iPad... at times. I would probably get stupid with it app-wise if I had access to ALL that. It's a struggle.
What's interesting about this one is that it's a one page multi channel midi controller, with sequencing, performance, scales and chording capabilities...with 5 seperate midi sends.
It also had 5 separate AB audio channel outs if you'd rather sequence with its internal sounds.
Pretty cool for 2 bucks
From all the demos, it sounded like all it could do was chippy-tune dub step, yada-yada, but you have quite a bit of control over the builtin sounds, as well as effects. Add midi out to the 5 different instruments, and it's pretty cool. The only thing that bugs me a little is the bpm only goes from 60-180. For $2 is hard to complain.
I also thought it looked complex on first blush, but it's really fairly straight forward and an efficient, well designed interface.
@Brain sometimes I wish I didn't have an iPad, so that I'd have a better deterrent from buying so many apps.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Although the description only mentions AB2, it also shows up in AUM as either main, or multi-port for each of the 5 instrument sequences, for even more effects fun and mixing. This sweet $2 gamble is a gift that keeps on giving.
Like the guitar actually, might be under-rated (whatever the hell that means), but Futulele is lovely. Have written a couple of songs with it and hope to do some more. Just seems about right.
That'll do it for me, I can use a cheap near-instant gratification machine with randomisation to mix in with my other stuff.
It may quell my desire to pick up either Egoist or Thesys ... may ...
I've had it for a while. There is no doubt this app has a lot of potential. Sadly, much like Oscillab, i can't seem to unleash that potential but that is not a reflection of the app but of my lack of skills with it
Looks like when you record your audio file within the app, it ALSO records a midi file version that can be exported via dropbox.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Can this sync with AUM or anything or is it internal only?
Just tried this and discovered instacrash with iConnectivity interfaces attached.....pity unlikely they'll update this for a while if at all.
I don't know. Haven't tried any sync yet. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that much. It's been around awhile. It's been either free or around $2 before, and it looks a little dated. It certainly needs an update, and the dropbox dialogue box says that if the dev doesn't update to comply with the new dropbox standard, that dropbox integration may not work after July.
But, this app is quite a gem overall. It's a tad flaky, off and on, and could certainly use an update. Someone said that it was purchased off the original developer. I don't know if that's true, but I'd guess than might mean it won't get an update. Fingers crossed that it does though. Even if it doesn't, I've already got my $2 worth of joy out of it in spades.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
it works when not connected to my audio interface so will give a try later, does look fun and worth £2.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Not related I don't think, but I've noticed that if I want to use midi out, it's better to launch the apps I want to send midi to first. Then, launch Mint i.o. to connect. If I launch Mint i.o. first, then the other synths, the midi connection can be sketchy or occasional stuck notes.
I also love Seline Redux by zCage.com still one of my favorite preset players. I can get some wonderful sounds out of it, especially like the flute IAP's.
Mint is one of those guilty pleasures. Half the time I am not entirely sure what I'm doing. Must RTFM one day. But it's alway fun, and survives my occasional iPad purges.
Also, agree with High5denied that Seline Redux is superb. Lovely sounds and a really natural interface.
Can't stand the UI, too candy crush.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I don't disdain it as much as you do
but the UI is likely one of the reasons I never picked it up before when it was on sale. I've gotten used to it at this point and it doesn't bother me. But I do hear ya.
yes it's very minty interface does put me off too![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It looks like they were originally going after a younger audience with a game-like music beat box, with candy crush-esque graphics, easy to randomly hit buttons and most likely decent dub-step, etc. would come out without having to know anything or give it much thought. For that target market, this GUI is completely appropriate.
If so, I think that was a legitimate target around the time this was launched. I'm guessing it didn't take off and do candy crush numbers, so they tried to retool it a bit and try to capture some audio-app-nerd/musician market with some extra features like midi out, etc.
I think if they gave this an updated, flattened minimalistic graphic treatment, bring the code up to date, give it the LINK, AudioShare and AB3 treatment, and maybe AU, etc. They'd have no problem moving this for the $10 list price in our collective musician/audio-nerd market, and probably a little more than that.
If I had any bank, I'd see if they'd sell me the code, and I'd hire one of our better devs to bring this app up to date. I think the foundation and structure is already there, just needs a mild overhaul to get it to the next level.
Hey guys!
Eric here from Amidio/zCage. So glad to see all the comments! I'm an Indie iOS developer trying to figure out how make a living. I purchased the Amidio brand and apps back in 2014 and went through them all with updates. Also in 2016, brought back Seline, added Seline Pro, added OMGuitar 12, and updated amidio.com website.
On Monday, I reviewed sales in first time in long time. Not great. No users, no business so I slashed prices across the brand. Will get more users and feedback. Will help direct future work.
I hope people get some enjoyment out of these. You can check them out at http://amidio.com
Thanks for your continued support. You guys rock! Eric
