Well, you know what Chubby Brown said about decorating and f... No I won't before the watershed. I lay my red carpet down on the Club puddle for you to walk across sir. To listen/comment on others efforts without submitting one yourself is a wonderful thing. Will we be lucky enough to hear one of yours? Sincerely hope so. Again, thank you.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@Bluepunk I'm working to get one finished before the end of the merry month of May.
In the intended spirit of the club, you gotta give if you want to receive. Oo err
Nurse, sign this boy up.
@gburks good production over all. I'd like to hear the percussion a little more but over all its an even mix to me a
@studs1966 this is really cool. Love the vibe it's got . The intro got me . And the bells shined it up . I think you did a great job
@theconnactic this is awesome . Your vocals came out great. And very creative back ups .. sort of brought mike Patton to my mind. I like it a lot dude. You gotta do this more often cause it's really fun to listen to and blends well with your guitar work
@trackedout Wow!! Well that woke me up!! That's a musical hurricane u have there mate! I love the music, love the brass coming in later, crazy drums to end it. I just would have liked more energy on the vocal (although I get that u were probably going for that contrast) I just feel that...well, I guess if I'm being honest, the music is doing all the heavy lifting and has the hooks and the vocal seems like it's there, as a bit of an afterthought. I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I think this would just make a kick ass Instrumental actually.
Musically mind blowing though mate! Cheers!![:# :#](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/grimace.png)
@trackedout I love a good heavy track and this appeals, but I think it could definitely do with some compression? If not maybe cut down the top levels a wee bit?
I like the vocals myself, put me in mind of Dinosaur Jr.
@LostBoy85 welcome back dude! I totally agree with you actually and this track started as a test run for my new old bass .I just don't feel too comfortable yet exploring that energy with my vocals.I do however want that energy. And to be honest it has a lot to do with my limited alone time I get to try out and experiment vocals freely .I did hold back when I wanted to put more in it.thank you. Much appreciated. Makes me think of ways to track privately. I'm too shy about it .
@DefRobot thank you. It's the second time I heard that about dinosaur Jr. I had never listened to them till today.and my friend thought it was a cover or direct attempt to sound like em.
@LostBoy85 3,2,1 Alarm. Good, that should be enough. Sorry couldn't listen until the 48hrs quarantine/disinfecting process from ''Lady in Red' pathogens were completely exterminated. Thought we'd lost you to the Business. Guitarism eh. Now that bit is excellent use of 8 months off. Did you apply any stock effects from Guitarism before feeding into amp? And the drums; Ddddebra from GB? Achieved your vision because it is a song that demands to be heard through all speakers in a 1.6 Astra Convertible (what a machine) while taking the ramblers coastal path from Chichester to Brighton. The song Norman Blake wanted to write/sing. Golden intro (selfishly wanted more nah, nah, nahs) are your open arms inviting us, as mute passengers, to leapfrog into the back seat. Exhilarating vibe and memorable, hooked laden song.
See, this urgent but dreamy music sat underneath a proper singer thrills/charms. The gaffer does it very well, and now you. Please, please do not stop. You've seen the light with Guitarism, (and play it like a pro. Much applause) and with the legendary Leo larynx on top, could we be witnessing a return to music like this. "Feel a whole lot better"..... Yep, now I do. Jubilant.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Best line in a review ever posted![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
And you're a closet Teenage Fanclub fan to boot! Not so punk now, eh...
This Club needs more women to soak up the spirit and contribute. Apart from the excellent @orchardman family choir from the Swamps, it appears, by vocal tone (still have nagging doubts about some) starved of Veruca Salts to cleanse the tub. If there are any out there and are feeling desperate to knock one out similar (or not, don't care) to this new thruster .....this is the place to do it. COME ON.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
They're worth 'coming out' for. Adore them and one day will try to deliver melancholy like they do. It's about that ache again. Powerful.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment we definitely need more female voices on here.
At the moment, you may not be even be hearing Mrs Orchardman's dulcet tones this month as we are struggling to produce anything new. I think it's a case of too many new toys getting in the way of actual music production and trying to produce something different sounding just for the sake of it.
It might be time to get back to basics and head back to the swamps![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
As I sit here at The Roxy assembling a punk'd up pram for my poorly dogs to go faux walkies in, I think it will be my credibility that is rightly questioned at tomorrow's unveiling ceremony.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@Bluepunk My God man, I've missed your EPIC reviews!!
You are way too kind to me...but il take it! I never had the pleasure of driving this dream vehicle of which you speak! And how the hell do u know about any coastal route from Chichester (just around a few corners from me) to Brighton?? ![:p :p](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Thanks for the link to the Teenage fan club stuff. I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of them!
They sound great though fo sho!
Thanks a lot Kev!![:* :*](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/kiss.png)
Still she won't be forced against her will
Says she don't do drugs but she does the pill
Oh yeah oh yeah
Take me back to the 90's
It really is a great song, and happy. Jeremy Clarkson said of the Astra that there was nothing interesting to say about it. If he'd got out of someone's bed that he shouldn't have been in and taken my call, he could've joined us in creating that coastal route with the 1.6 LS and changed his opinion somewhat. Bit before your time Leo, so probably grown over now with long grass and decomposing rambler attire. Those wiper jets were remarkably efficient in removing blue rinse and skin that stuck like shit. 5 stars from me. Go get one.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@Bluepunk Wrote off an Astra one night in Norbury (terrible pale blue colour). Had to walk home. Never went back to get it. Seems like a fair while ago now....
Do you know, when we hot wired 'the one' a while ago now, from Nor.... hmm wich, and strangely yes, with a few scratches,, rifling the glove compartment looking for drugs, there was a posh pen... one that a talented writer would use...... FUCK.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
That's pretty much a measure of my progress in life: Back then I would have left the pen behind, but always taken the drugs...in fact, now I think it through, it was probably because I'd taken the drugs that I crashed the Astra to start with...
Lucky you could walk away from that RTA Mister Word. I'll raise you 3 cars, (our own) in one hour, all into a brick wall recurring, on purpose, on something or other. By the way.... it couldn't have been pure Colombian otherwise you'd have flown home.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I seem to remember driving up and back from Chiswick to Wandsworth on the South Circular. Why in hell I used to think gear grinding an old Golf while tripping was a night out I have no idea...the twenties are a very strange decade...
@marliess great production I must say. I like the guitars a lot vocals were tracked well too.. your whole mix is sounding good here in the lbc I'm sure it sounds good everywhere else.. kinda lost me in the vocals towards the end though..
@crouchie I want more energy more changes more of something but the fact that it makes me want more is a good thing. I listened to it multiple times trying to figure out how I felt and I realized it had what I wanted it to towards the end
@crouchie wow 6 months really? Well I think you did a great job in those six months. Everything is hitting hard not harsh not too compressed not too much of anything . I can almost hear everything being said. If you can bring up th whispers a little I think I'd understand em .. good job on it really
@trackedout. Really like the intensity of the opening and the guitar breakdown around 0.30. Re the suggestion to maybe increase the intensity of the vocals – in the first half of the song they have a sort of cool nonchalance that (I think) suits the vibe of the song…around 2.05 I reckon kicking up vocal intensity would definitely add to the tune. Love the big phat drums in the last 20 seconds or so of the song, great wind up!
Re the Dinosaur Jr references…, they are definitely there and it’s a pretty cool comparison. I saw them in about ’97 on a Sunday night….big fan but the band didn’t come on till about 3 in the (Monday) morning… on a work day with maybe a four hour break after the support act. I like the band but their form that night was piss poor. It was incredibly loud too…I remember sticking fingers in ears to see if they were bleeding!
Thanks for listening to my tune too and providing feedback. I’ve added a spoiler with the lyrics as a couple of folks have mentioned not hearing / understanding the lyrics. Seems I f’d up the formatting though (apologies)!
