Free Thor patches for EWI players
Just saw a link to these Thor patches for CC 2 (breath control) on Discchord. They sound great. Along with the patches is a demo video by the person who made the patches, as well as instructions on how to get the patches on to an iPad.

Yep! Noticed the same. Rather surprised to find that this person was able to emulate the “Michael Brecker Effect” of rotating chords. Sounds like it’s the Ramp Harmonics which generate that effect. Still unclear about the details, but it’s really neat.
The same person posted about the MIDI Rotator:
Missed that one in my searches. In fact, even searching for “MIDI Rotator” on the app store didn’t work.
With the same person’s Magellan patches and those demos, there’s obviously room for Wind Controller use on iOS.
Hi Enkerli
I have bought the midi rotator two days ago,
because I also like this Video with those Brecker Sounds.
But I have no idea how this APP works. Couldn't get it run.
My setup is an akai ewi 4000s, Roland UM one mkII INTERFACE, my first try with Midirotator was with Thor Synth APP.
The Problem is that there is no manual for this APP.
Hope anyone has an idea how it works?
Thanks a lot for your help in advance
I bought it and couldn't get it to work either. In fact, it is the only app that has ever completely crashed my Ipad to the point where I had to hard reboot to get the OS back up. Wound up returning it.
Which is a shame, because I would love to have its capabilities, and I know of no other ios app that does what it purports to do.
Hmm, I guess I was intrigued until the crashed/hung iPad part.
Here’s the link anyway for the other curious kids willing to jump the fence.

You have any music in the Internet we can listen to with those synths?
Hey gang! Been a while.
Reached out to Gullion (MIDI Rotator dev). Without promising anything, he did say that he might be able to come out with a major update to that app, to improve stability and, maybe, even bring it to the ‘bus!
Since my last time here, been focusing on other setups for musicking, including MOD Emulation for Pisound (on Raspberry Pi).
Recently joined a Facebook group about wind controllers and there have been a couple of conversations about iOS stuff, including a short thread about patches for Thor/Magellan/Kauldron. Hadn’t realized that mkirio01 had released the latter. Finding those pretty easy to use.
Hi Alexandre
a few weeks ago I was in touch per Mail with Tom Gullion because of his old MidiRotator Version which didn’t work with my Akai ewi, Roland UM—ONE Midi Interface and Thor Synth . Tom gave me a lot of tips , but no one was helpful. Finally he promised to upgrade the old Version which he did at the end of march. Now I have the new version of MidiRotator, but the same problem as before, nothing works.Thor identify‘s my Interface and MidiRotator as „Midi Client“, MidiRotator identify‘s my Roland Interface and Thor Keyboard, but have no Rotator sound. So can you help me with the right settings on Thor an MidiRotator because meanwhile I am very disappointed that I am no able to get the Rotator successful work.Thank you very much for answer in advance.
Greetings from Germany Markus
Didn't you program a midi rotator into Pure Data? Would that work on MobMuPlat?
Maybe you could ask in that Facebook group about wind controllers?
There might be something about the order in which you open these apps. For one thing, switching the channel number (from Omni to something else and back) sometimes made a difference. Typically, MIDI Rotator identifies my softsynth by name, not as “MIDI Client”.
Have you tried with another softsynth? In my case, MIDI Rotator has worked in things like Minimoog Model D. Haven’t tried Thor in a while so maybe there’s something specific to that synth.
Been using that same interface with my WX11, no problem there. Also no problem with other controllers (through USB).
Good point (and good memory). It should work in MobMuPlat and PdParty, as it’s Pd Vanilla. But, if memory serves, it still had some issues with stuck notes or some such. Did make a better version in Sonic Pi, but that doesn’t work on iOS.
