If sampling something from a record, it might sound good in the context of that song and record, but I have also found that even when sampling material from a record, it might need to be tweaked, in order to make it fit into the context of your track.
Neither do I. I usually prefer original sounds over lifting/sampling, when doing my own material.
I used to engineer and mix a lot of other artist's hip hop tracks back in the day, and 99% of those sounds were lifted (sampled) from someplace else, so I acquired a bit of experience with making the different source material work together, as I didn't really have a choice, since I wasn't the producer, I was merely the engineer/mix engineer.
No, but I created a nice hybrid snare drum in AUM with two sets of velocity samples - one from a nice, deep wooden Ludwig (I think) and the other a brass Pearl snare. The result was a snare that punches the ears almost like a high tom, but has the attack and just a hint of "boing" from the brass snare. I quite like it![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
