My KRFT is strong │ Live performance - haQ attaQ
KRFT by Studio Amplify is amazing, especially after the update that allows us to import, pitch and time-stretch samples and loops.
I usually make vlogs in where I am going through each element of a performance video. However this surface is absolutely full of stuff and there is so much to say about this project. So I've decided to do a haQ attaQ live stream In where I'll be walking anyone who might be interested through this KRFT surface. Stay tuned for time and date!
The performance was recorded in one take (18'th take) and then I edited the video with LumaFusion.

@jakoB_haQ Top stuff. Really great app, nice track and cool production. Well done
Thank you so much! I had a huge amount of fun building this surface.
The biggest thing with KRFT is that it was designed for live stuff. I love that. Instead of just producing a track, we also get to build a performance interface for the track at the same time.
Epic !
Thanks Alex! KRFT is really amazing, well done! =D
Loved it
Super dupa
Thank you! =D
Was glued to that performance from start to end, great work. Loved the shaking of the fist, exactly how I feel when recording a live take and that one note is off time
I will have to check out this kraft app now
Actually very curious how loops are handled and if they can be chopped up or triggered in slices etc. can't find much on the latest updated version
Really cool Jakob, I enjoyed your production here. Will have to pick up Krft soon. Since there's importing samples now I guess different styles and genres are more accessible? Would like to see if it's possible to create a classical piece
Thanks for posting and inspiring us much appreciated
I like keeping some of the mistakes I do during recordings just to show that I do make them. I had a hard time admitting stuff like that in the past.
Please do! It's awesome!
At the moment the loops can't be used in a "slicer" mode or anything. But there is pitch and time-stretching algo's in there.
KRFT is based on FM synthesis for the leads and bass type stuff. And the drums are romplers with ready EDM-type kits.
So at the moment there aren't any classical sounding instruments In KRFT.
Great performance @jakoB_haQ. Very inspiring
Ah ok good to know...still will get krft for the EDM part of me
Thanks
@jakoB_haQ do you create the surface beforehand and then fill it in or as you go along? I find I get more done if I make a crazy surface first, then fill in, and then perhaps change the cell settings here and there. Curious how other folks do it.
What I was thinking... great job @jacoB_haQ
Thank you!
Thanks for asking!
I always have a very clear idea of the music or track I want to produce. It's like a finished piece that just pops into my head. Then I simply need to put everything out into a DAW of some sort, piece by piece.
It was the same when building this surface inside KRFT. So I started laying down drums as I usually do. But when I was getting to the bass I had to stop and think. I normally don't do that. But since KRFT was designed for live stuff it also meant I had to think about how to lay it all out.
I had to consider what elements to put where and the way In would interact with the track etc. So I built each element one after another. I also tested performing all elements one after another and kept going until my surface was pretty much full.
At this stage I tested the whole set. In then dove into each element to EQ stuff and make sure that the mix was good.
At this point I realised that my track was missing something. Vocals!
So I dug around until I remembered the KORG Gadget performance I made last week (Step off). So I imported the vocals from that project into KRFT sample players. It's nice that those sample players have time-stretch functionality.
Had to stretch the vocals since their original Bpm is 140 and this project 130Bpm.
I also added the Indian vocal sample at the same time. I got that sample from an "Earthmoments" sample pack....um it's called "Voice of India"
After adding the samples I performed the track several times to see if anything was placed oddly or if anything was sounding bad.
Sorry, got a bit long winded there.
Thank you! =D
Great job Haq! Can't wait to see you get your hands on the Midi out version! It truly is awesome!!! Sending midi to Thor, LayR and DRC awesome!!!!
Fantastic video and track Jakob! Can't wait to see your 'midi out' version when the time comes.
Awesome work!
That's bonkers, well done!
Amazing...
My daughters LOVED your use of emojis on your surface. They also liked the song!
Amazing stuff @jakoB_haQ
How did you get the Indian vocal sample stuttering like it does? I'd have thought it would restart every time you touched - but you seem to have it on another setting or something?
Agreed! An added MIDI out functionality would make KRFT even sicker! =D
@Noirflux @MonzoPro @RajahP Aw thank you!
It's quite neat labelling stuff with emojis! I find it easier to keep track of where everything is. Btw, Tell your daughters I said hello and that I'm happy they liked the emojis! =D
I thought the same thing as you did when I loaded up samples into KRFT. But apparently the brilliant brothers over at Studio Amplify made the sample player lock into grids...ehm. It's like they have a defined start and end point. So the first tap activates their start and the loop runs. After that the "button" functions more like a gate.
Ok..I'm sure I made a mess of this explanation. I'll actually have to ask the guys when I get to talk to them next week.
