  • Someone posted this here a while back, when this topic arose-- a quick workaround to darken the forum, or any webpage:

    copy the following into the URL of a bookmark, on your menu bar; then, anytime you want to darken a webpage, just click the bookmark.

    javascript:(function()%7Bvar night=function(w)%7B(function(d)%7Bvar css='html%7Bbackground:%23333 !important%7Dhtml *%7Bbackground:none !important;color:%23bbb !important;border-color:%23333 !important;border-width:0 !important%7Dhtml a,html a *%7Bcolor:%235c8599 !important;text-decoration:underline !important%7Dhtml a:visited,html a:visited *,html a:active,html a:active *%7Bcolor:%23525f66 !important%7Dhtml a:hover,html a:hover *%7Bcolor:%23cef !important;background:%23023 !important%7Dhtml input,html select,html button,html textarea%7Bbackground:%234d4c40 !important;border:1px solid %235c5a46 !important;border-top-color:%23474531 !important;border-bottom-color:%237a7967 !important%7Dhtml input%5Btype=button%5D,html input%5Btype=submit%5D,html input%5Btype=reset%5D,html input%5Btype=image%5D,html button%7Bborder-top-color:%237a7967 !important;border-bottom-color:%23474531 !important%7Dhtml input:focus,html select:focus,html option:focus,html button:focus,html textarea:focus%7Bbackground:%235c5b3e !important;color:%23fff !important;border-color:%23474100 %23665d00 %237a7849 !important;outline:2px solid %23041d29 !important%7Dhtml input%5Btype=button%5D:focus,html input%5Btype=submit%5D:focus,html input%5Btype=reset%5D:focus,html input%5Btype=image%5D:focus,html button:focus%7Bborder-color:%237a7849 %23665d00 %23474100 !important%7Dhtml input%5Btype=radio%5D%7Bbackground:none !important;border-color:%23333 !important;border-width:0 !important%7Dhtml img%5Bsrc%5D,html input%5Btype=image%5D%7Bopacity:.5%7Dhtml img%5Bsrc%5D:hover,html input%5Btype=image%5D:hover%7Bopacity:1%7Dhtml,html body%7Bscrollbar-base-color:%234d4c40 !important;scrollbar-face-color:%235c5b3e !important;scrollbar-shadow-color:%235c5b3e !important;scrollbar-darkshadow-color:%23474531 !important;scrollbar-track-color:%234d4c40 !important;scrollbar-arrow-color:%23000 !important;scrollbar-3dlight-color:%237a7967 !important%7D';var s=d.getElementsByTagName('style');for(var i=0,si;si=s%5Bi%5D;i++)%7Bif(si.innerHTML==css)%7Bsi.parentNode.removeChild(si);return%7D%7D;var heads=d.getElementsByTagName('head');if(heads.length)%7Bvar node=d.createElement('style');node.type='text/css';node.appendChild(d.createTextNode(css));heads%5B0%5D.appendChild(node)%7D%7D)(w.document); for(var i=0,f;f=w.frames%5Bi%5D;i++)%7Btry%7Barguments.callee(f)%7Dcatch(e)%7B%7D%7D%7D;night(window)%7D)();

    Not sure exactly what it's doing, but iirc it overrides the background colors in the webpage css code. Not perfect, but it works.

    dup

  • Are you using mobile or desktop browsers?

    If you're using desktop versions you could always download stylish/greasemonkey/what ever similar and either grab something like https://userstyles.org/styles/124798/dark-mode-for-any-site?utm_campaign=stylish_stylepage or write a simple one yourself

    That way you won't have to wait for someone to make a dark theme for a given site

  • I'd vote for making the 'mark all viewed' top bar option visible when browsing the forum in portrait mode on an iPad Air 2. I need to rotate the iPad for it to be visible...

  • How bout an app for the forum with really good search engine? And also night mode. Kinda like touch arcades app.

    Why re-invent the wheel? Google works fabulously:
    Example: dark mode site:forum.audiob.us

    Because it wasn't invented here.

    Also, if you search the Vanilla forums forum (which you probably can't because I imagine it uses vanilla forums) you'd eventually find lots of people referring to the crap search capabilities.

    Using mobile. My desktops are nothing but furniture these days.
