MIDI commands for switching between apps

Hi,

I'm a guitar player & plan on using different audio apps to feed signal into Loopy HD.
For my guitar setup, I have a MIDI pedal that switches between sounds. Would it be possible to use MIDI within Audiobus to switch between apps? I need both hands to play my instrument. Some apps offer graphical representations of what they're doing. I could f.e. activate a tuner and jump to the app that runs the tuner by sending a string of MIDI commands, then back to the looper with another set of commands.

Is that possible already - without using the touch screen to jump between apps? If not - how do I place a feature request?

Thanks,

M.

  • Yep. Check out MIDI Bridge. MIDI command based app switching doesn't work with all apps but it does work with quite a few.

  • Yeah, this would be awesome. I just worry the setup of all the routing will be a nightmare...

  • Actually MidiBridge makes the routing easier - you can see it.

  • Yep, plus you can set it up to listen on say midi channel 14 for these changes to minimize the chance that you'll mistakenly interfere with other stuff.

  • Just beware that all the Apps you switch to are going to stay loaded when you switch away from them.
