Lol I think Thumbjam is fine. I don't use it much but it's admirable. Did I say something? But iKaossilator is my favorite thumb instrument. Though I sometimes add the index finger for that one.
I have a couple of real to reels I bought at a garage sale for $10 apiece.
Someone gave me one for free. I kept it around for a while, but eventually gave it away because it was taking up space and I wasn't using it, and I wasn't convinced it was any better than what I was using on my computer.
I don't think anyone can truly appreciate what miracles these iOS devices are until he/she considers what it would have cost (to do what we can do now with our iOS devices) back in the 80s or until he/she tries to do audio comping on reel to reel.
The terms cut, splice and tape have real world origins. Hahaha!!

My statement was not to be taken negatively, I just think it's really funny, iPhone only users are the exact opposite to those people (and there's a lot of forums about the topic as well...those are funny too) that need 3 30 inch monitors, the most powerful PC available, the most powerful software and lots and lots and lots of gear to fill they are accomplishing any "real work" and anything below that it's just toys. People and their idea of the truth varies a lot...
As for myself... I use my iPhone a LOT...just not for music making, love my iPad for that, several PCs I own are mostly collecting dust or used as file storage, my mac only gets real use when I need to do some work on Sibelius.
My issue with iPhone music creation has to do everything with software, most iOS music apps are badly adapted (and in some cases just not suited) for the small screen.
Original iPhone apps are mostly great, using the iPhone small screen as an advantage, simple UIs...just awesome... but most universal apps or apps ported from the iPad to an iphone version in my opinion suck... some suck more, some suck less... some are workable...some are almost there if you're willing to put in the effort... none are great.
I really love the iPhone as it allows me to record ideas sketches and even final stuff anywhere, but ultimately I do prefer the iPads bigger screen as it allows Sir more precise editing especially with older eyes.
