AB3 and DRC ain't happy there's no melody
I can't seem to get Fugue Machine and DRC to talk to one another in AB3. Is this a known issue or am I just a dolt?
I've got Fugue as a midi device and DRC as my 'target' although within Fugue it tells me that all play heads are controlled by Audiobus. In DRC my midi in source is just DRC, as it is usually when connecting Fugue outside of Audiobus. However, no midi info is getting through to DRC. I can play on DRC's keyboard and hear notes played, so it's not a sound issue and I can swap out DRC for, say, Animoog, and midi info gets through fine to it. I can also have Fugue sit on its own outside of Audiobus and send midi to DRC inside of Audiobus and this works fine. I've turned Ableton link off and on within DRC to see if this makes any difference, but no joy.
I'm on latest versions of all Apps and OS.
Any thoughts or help would be very much appreciated.

I just tried that setup and no dice, no matter what I did. I've steered clear of AB3 for now due to other things like this; it's really a mess at this point.

And yeah, Audiobus, I'm struggling to see the point of it right now, when AUM suits my needs and works as well as it does. Have tried some of the midi filters and they're great for a little randomness but beyond this I'm scratching my head as to why I need AB3. Other people's mileage may vary, of course.
I use AUM and AB3 differently. AUM is perfect for a live jam; I wouldn't substitute AB3 for this purpose, AUM is too great. Whereas AB3 is great for recording synth or drum loops into AudioShare as fodder for Egoist and/or Blocs Wave. To me they serve a different purpose and it's all good.
I mentioned DRC issue in DRC thread. You can get it to work if you use the midiflow adapter. Not sure if this is a DRC bug or Audiobus. Will be better when SDk is released so more devs will update. I'm having loads of fun with AB3 though and issues will be resolved as time goes on.
AUM is great too of course but being able to save midi experiments and midi setups is a huge step forward.
I will deffo not be giving up on AB3. Interested to know your work flow for recording loops using audiobus, as I use AUM for this purpose right now.

MIDI is certainly something I'm just starting out on and will lead me on to appreciate AB3 a lot more in future, I'm sure of that. I'm hoping to marry my ipad with Digitakt when it's released and anticipate challenges that will require me brining some knowledge and skills to the party. There are whispers it won't be as straightforward as I'd hoped it would be to send MIDI from Digitakt to iPad.
DRC is one of my favourite things ever and being able to sequence it externally from an Elektron box is my current mission...when said box eventually turns up
That sounds like a fun combination. Agree about DRC, can't wait for it to be an AUv3.
I pretty much use AB3 for the original purpose it was designed for. I noodle around with presets in one of my favourite synths until I find something I like, I put said synth into the audio input in AB3, maybe add an effect or two in the effect slots and put AudioShare in the output slot. Then using the AB3 sidebar I record loops into AudioShare, which I then use to trim and snap to a bpm ready for transporting to Egoist or Blocs. It's simple, I know, but I'm a simple person.

Sound like a process that is predictable and that is on point.
It seems simple to me. Since I started working that way I find I've been far more productive. I think Blocs Wave encourages this type of workflow. And rediscovering Egoist recently has cemented it for me. It certainly suits me a lot more than recording into a DAW.
Same here. I think as soon as DRC gets AUv3 treatments it will put it over the top for me. But I'm also having issues with AB3 and I'm sure there's people working hard getting it to where it needs to be. So I'm gonna work with what works and just be patient. I still love all the working options in AB3!
I'm sure the AB guys are hard at work. I haven't seen much of them on the forum lately. That must be a good sign.
