Mastering on iphone

I'm sure there's a thread on this..

But I refuse to believe it cannot be done on iphone ...

Mastering is all to do with eq , compression and making levels just right ( am I right?), if so, the final mix down is all important.

Can we make a list of iPhone apps for eq etc?

I find the GarageBand visual eq does give an amazing clear feel, what about

Multitrack daw
4pockets 4 track

To start with?

I think content from gadget if levels are right is pretty close to mastered quality...I had one sound engineer check one of my tracks and said that he hardly had to adjust anything

I recommend the DDMF apps (No Limits & 6144) for part of the mastering tools. I'm looking for a high quality AU signal analyzer, and a good general compressor to complete the setup. I'm sure these things are available, but I've only just started this research myself.

  • A stereo widener might be useful as well.

  • For other available tools, there's the controversial Lursen app, and Mastering (an app like LANDR with presets for those who don't want to learn the art of Mastering).

  • Lurssen Mastering Console. And don't look further. I think Lurssen is one of the best mastering tool on iOS.

Does that still work despite not being updated in over two years? Is it a 64-bit app? I'm interested in this app, but I'm not sure if I'll purchase it and the appstore will take it away from me the next day.

  • Still works ATM-not a 64 bit app though and a lot more expensive now than I remember it being. So maybe I wouldn't bother at this point. However it will stay on one of my old ithings till it breaks.

  • Here's another thread from a couple weeks ago about this exact same question:

  • Remaster by Audioforge Labs - (Not sure if it's been updated).

  • @Tarekith Good post!! I was just thinking the same thing!!

  • Does an AU signal analyzer even exist on the iPhone yet? If not, does a signal analyzer of any type (IAA, audiobus) exist for the iPhone?

  • Also, what would everyone say is the best AU general-use mastering compressor? I suspect DDMF's No limits is one of the best single purpose compressors, designed specifically for limiting, but what about a best on the iPhone for general use?

There have been some threads about important bugs in the software that the developers won't fix that gives me some concern--especially at the price. Just an FYI.

  • Audiojunkie, yes I read threads about 'bugs'. But I'm not sure that it is impotant bugs. I think Lurssen sounds great and if you don't want to spend much time on mastering and getting the good results for your tracks, this one is your the best choice. IMHO...

Lurssen seems like cash grab and doesn't seem very good when compared to other options like cubasis and multitrack and final touch (obviously frustrating that all those are ipad only except multitrack DAW). Also I don't like subscription models and it seems gimmicky
